Mantic Ritual - Part Ways With Drummer

US thrashers Mantic Ritual have posted the following statement on their blog:

"As some of you may already know, we are no longer working with our drummer, Adam Haritan. This was a mutual decision and we all agree that it's best for everyone involved. It's been obvious to us for some time that Adam was not as interested in making music as he once was, and we all thought this would be a good time for him to pursue other things while we found another drummer who can be fully dedicated to Mantic Ritual. There are no hard feelings between us, and we're grateful for all the time and effort Adam has put into this band over the last five years. We wish him the best and we're sure he'll be successful in whatever path he chooses.

Mantic Ritual will be looking for a new drummer immediately to continue writing, recording, and touring. We'll be back in action as soon as possible!''

Ex-drummer Adam adds: "The time has come for me to part ways with Mantic Ritual. Over the past few months, my heart has been pulling me in a different direction, and it has been hard to fight the urge to follow my passion. Although I will no longer be the drummer of Mantic Ritual, I'll always be a strong supporter of the band and remain great friends with Ben, Jeff, and Dave. Some of my most cherished memories in life involve this band, and I'll never forget them. Emerson stated it perfectly when he said, "We change, whether we like it or not." One year ago I had no idea that I'd be returning to school, immersed in a non-musical field, but that's the way the Universe works. I wish nothing but the best for the band, and hope the guys thrive in everything they do."

Monster Magnet - New Album Details

Monster Magnet have revealed more details for the upcoming new album Mastermind. The album is scheduled for an October release via Napalm Records.

Monster Magnet songwriter and frontman, Dave Wyndorf, described Mastermind as follows: "It's a big, beefy ball of demented anthems and power rock. The music itself is exaggerated and muscular. Like classic rock gone insane! Giant hooks, giant sounds. The rockers are direct and intense. The ballads, trippy and strange. It's guitar heaven.

The lyrics read like a fever-dream of life in the 21st century. Cynicism, optimism, satire, sex, deluded fantasies and dead-on reality. They're all here - sometimes even in the same song! In my world, images, information and emotions tend to intertwine. I'll describe the smallest details of my personal life in crazy, cinematic terms. When I write, the words play out in my mind like scenes from a movie and that's the vibe I tried to capture on Mastermind - rapid-fire emotion. What can I say? I'm having a weird life and I have to write it down that way.

In the end though, Mastermind ROCKS, and that's what's most important.

Mastermind tracklist:

01. Hallucination Bomb
02. Bored With Sorcery
03. Dig That Hole
04. Gods and Punks
05. The Titan Who Cried Like A Baby
06. Mastermind
07. 100 Million Miles
08. Perish In Fire
09. Time Machine
10. When The Planes Fall From The Sky
11. Ghost Story
12. All Outta Nothin'

Atheist - Part Ways With Bassist

Official press release

Forefathers of progressive extreme metal Atheist parted ways with bassist Tony Choy (ex-Cynic, ex-Pestilence, C-187). Freshly done with the recording sessions of long-awaited fourth studio album Jupiter, Kelly Shaefer and Steven Flynn wrote the following statement on behalf of the band:

"First we would like to extend sincere apologies to all Atheist fans around the world. We have been silent on the matter of a former member being dismissed for some time, but we were entirely focussed on recording our new album Jupiter. Therefore, we did not want to get sidetracked on an issue, which, quite honestly, was far less important to us than it might appear to some looking in from the outside.

When we came together to write again, it was an obvious choice, for several reasons, to try and continue in what has been our touring line-up. We've had such a great time together on the road for the past four years. We're all great friends, and all of us were working peacefully towards the completion of the album. Therefore it hit us very unexpectedly when Tony called one day and informed us that he would not record with us. What's worse is that this happened only four weeks prior to our confirmed studio date. This left us in a very unfortunate position and without a choice.

Although we are quite angry with him for this extremely late, and inconsiderate, change of heart, we have no desire to let this become personal or start some public feud. We simply want to be sure the facts are out there so we can get on with writing and playing music. While this might come as a surprise to some, we simply shrugged our shoulders and continued on, un-phased, for one simple reason: Tony was never instrumental to Atheist's sound in the first place. The true genius behind the technical bass lines of Unquestionable Presence was co-founding member Roger Patterson. It's not well known to today's fans that Roger actually wrote all the bass tracks just prior to his ultimately sad and tragic death and deserves the credit. Tony simply played what was written. However, the public perception has become distorted over the past two decades. It was the trio of Steve, Kelly and Roger who helped to bring Atheist alive - and continue to do so today - without Roger of course. Tony had no influence on the band's original sound.

It was that one young, gifted kid, Roger Patterson, who inspired subsequent generations of bass players to delve into technical metal and bring their instrument to the forefront. Yet unfortunately Roger has not always received the credit due to him. With all due respect, most of the credit has been misplaced on Tony. It was actually following Roger's terrible accident that Tony joined us, after Doug Keyser from Watchtower declined our offer to join for personal reasons. It must be said that nobody can deny Tony did a good job of playing the parts written by another musician. We will never stop being thankful for Tony to step in and help us out at that most difficult time. He remains a great friend. Apart from that, however, Tony's contribution to the sound of Atheist consists only of his participation as a fifth contributing member in writing Elements. We leave it to Cynic and Pestilence to tell their own stories, if anybody feels the need to hear them.

Pantheon I - Searching For New Vocalist

Pantheon I is looking for an extreme vocalist for both recording and live appearances.

The band issued the following announcement: "We have just finished writing the new album which will be recorded this year, and we have a very good recorder on board. Live appearances are also being considered. The right person will have a flamboyant stage personality and MUST BE ABLE TO REHEARSE IN OSLO TWICE A WEEK. Bascially you must be very good at extreme vocals, but it is also an advantage if you can sing clean vocals and help with the lyrics. Experience is not as important as the right attitude and what you can do."

If you're interested and feel you have what it takes, click here to find out how to get in touch with the band.

Armored Saint - Posted New Video Online

US heavy metal band Armored Saint recently revealed the new video for the track "Left Hook From Right Field". The clip was filmed on July 1 in the band's hometown with director Jeremy Schott of Mental Suplex. The song for this video comes off their latest album La Raza, which was released in March.

Vocalist John Bush gives us his description of the video for "Left Hook From Right Field": "BAD ASS!!! That's how I would describe this video. The photography is absolutely beautiful. Rene, the boxer, did a nobleman's job and is convincing as hell. Jeremy's team was awesome to work with and super efficient. Armored Saint was captured raw and with full power. Sometimes making a video, actually the majority of the time, making a video blows. Not this time!"

Bassist Joey Vera adds: "The video came out great and does justice to the song. We were going for a "Raging Bull" look and I think we captured the vibe for sure. Most videos are pretty boring to make but this one was actually fun. We spent some time shooting scenes "on the fly" and tried things out that were not in the story line, meaning we had a chance to improvise. The story line is a pretty good representation on the allegories that the lyrics paint. Good fun once again."

Vreid - Issue Band Update

Below is the "summer update" from the Vreid camp. The band discusses the release of a new DVD, a European tour later this year and a new upcoming album. Read all about it:

"New booking agency: We are pleased to announce that German agency ICS Festival service GmbH, has become our booking agency for Europe (minus Norway) and Asia. ICS is a well established agency, and we are happy to be a part of their rooster. We have already started working on tours & festivals for 2011 with ICS.

DVD coming soon: Our first DVD is soon to be released. It will hit the streets in September (exact date will follow soon). The DVD is entitled Vreid Goddamnit and will contain the complete Vreid concert at Inferno Festival, Rockefeller, Oslo, April 10th 2009. The concert was filmed with 7 cameras and mixed by Hváll at Studio 1184. There is also lots of extra material at the DVD, more info on this will follow soon with the release date.

European Tour in autumn: To support the release of Vreid Goddamnit we will do a European tour in October. The tour is almost fully booked, and info on this tour will be announced very soon.

New album on its way: Our main priority this year has been working with our 5th album. There has been several changes around this time. A lot of new equipment has been used, Hváll has rebuild his Studio 1184, and set up a completely new system. Also this is the first time the entire production is done by ourselves. Everything from pre-prod, all recording and mixing. This has been very refreshing & liberating, and we are extremely satisfied with the production for this album.

We had a line-up change as Strom joined us on guitar at the end of last year. This is his first recording with Vreid, and he has made a tremendous contribution for the album. He has been working closely with Sture and Hváll with the guitar arrangements, and definitive set his mark on the songs.

10 songs has been recorded, and it seem that 9 of them will make it for the album. How does it sound?? Bloody great if you ask us. Everyone seems very satisfied with the album, and the spirit within the band is fantastic. After working intensely in the studio for the last half year, we are now taking a break from the studio, before we wrap things up in September/October. The album will be released early 2011 through Indie Recordings. We will keep you posted with updates during the autumn."
