Morbid Angel - Band Update

Death metallers Morbid Angel have issued the following update:

"World Management and Morbid Angel would like to let the fans know that rumors about Pete Sandoval's back surgery are in fact true. Pete (Terrorizer) has suffered for a long time with a deteriorating disc problem. He was in daily pain and needed to have this done. He has recently been treated by a Laser Back Surgery specialist in Tampa, Florida. He is currently in rehabilitation and doing well. Pete is part of our family and the band's history and we all wish him well and a full recovery. Unfortunately this type of injury, subsequent surgery and rehab cannot be rushed and it will take ample time for him to hopefully be back behind his drums again and out on tour with Morbid Angel.

The band is moving forward on their next recording with Tim Yeung (Hate Eternal, Decrepit Birth, Divine Heresy, Nile, Vital Remains). Currently the guys are in rehearsals in Tampa putting their finishing touches on the songs for the new album, which is slated for later this year with subsequent touring world wide."

Forbidden - Sign To Nuclear Blast Records

Official press release

Nuclear Blast proudly announces the signing of legendary Bay Area thrashers Forbidden.

Commented the band: "We are very proud to announce that Forbidden has signed to Nuclear Blast Records. Ultimately, we all knew that there is no better label in the world to handle Metal and bring it to the masses with authority. For the last year, we have been intensely working on our craft while re-examining our past with a perspective we'd never had before. Our vision is clear and we know exactly who and what we are today. Forbidden is in an amazing creative space and we can't wait for everyone to hear it! We began recording on March 1st. We must thank Jaap Wagemaker and everyone else at Nuclear Blast for making their enthusiasm known to us since we've committed to writing this record. Also, there are so many other amazing friends that helped us along the way and we appreciate everything you've done for us to get Forbidden back into a position of strength. If you feel in your bones that you are one of them, then you definitely are! Thank you all so much."

Added Nuclear Blast A&R Manager Jaap Wagemaker: "We are totally stoked to announce that Forbidden has inked a deal with Nuclear Blast!! It is no secret that the staff of Nuclear Blast has a soft spot for thrash metal! We all grew up here with classics such as Forbidden Evil and Twisted Into Form! I am sure you can imagine that we were totally thrilled when we heard the news that Forbidden were coming back and after seeing them live several times since then and seeing them doing a smoking rendition of Twisted Into Form it was totally clear to us! Forbidden needs a new home and that home is called Nuclear Blast! This feeling became even bigger after guitarist Craig Locicero had sent us the 2 new songs last year! Needless to say that a dream is coming true! The future belongs to Forbidden and together with Nuclear Blast, we will bring the band back on the metal map! What the future will bring? I cannot tell you! Cause it is..... forbidden!"

Charon - Band Update

Finnish metallers Charon have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"New decade brings changes to Charon and now it's good time to update the situation. There have been rumours among Charon fans and followers about the future of the band. Playfully it could be said that Charon was not able to escape the cold grip of ongoing recession and had to go through re-organization and layoffs.

After taking some time out last summer we were not able to tune our engine to the needed pace for the studio sessions. We had written a bunch of new songs during the last couple of years but were not able to put them on record. After a long pondering and going through different alternatives, it was inevitable that we cannot output the next album in this mood of confusion. As a consequence guitarist Pasi Sipilä has left Charon.

Charon will continue playing and writing songs as a quartet. At the moment we are looking forward to new working methods and finding new ways to surprise our fans and to challenge bandmates with no boundaries on style or sound. We would like to thank Pasi for all his work for Charon during the years and wish him good luck with music!

We were glad to notice on our November gig that fans still believe in our work. It really kicks us forward and gives us a reason to continue. Hopefully we will meet again soon!

We wish all our fans and friends great and interesting new year 2010! Charon will be entering the studio in March to record couple of new songs. Brand-new track will be released in March at our website in free internet dowload!"

(Also thanks to MaSTeMa)

Thine Eyes Bleed - New Guitarist Announced, New Album On The Way

Canadian metallers Thine Eyes Bleed have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Hello everyone!

Been receiving lots of questions about our future lately and figured we were due for an update.

First and foremost we are still a band and have not called it a day. Our biggest task in doing this was to once again find the right 5th man. We have had a rotating guitarist for far too long. Don't get me wrong we have been fortunate in having some talented people fill the slot.

When we began putting the wheels back on the truck, so to speak, we made the decision to find someone closer to home, both musically and regionally.

Jimmy Reid will always be our brother. We love and miss him and have nothing but respect for him.

That being said we have found someone else to fill the void. With that we welcome Nigel Curley (Excruciating Thoughts, Ataxia) into the mix.

We been jamming with Nigel for the past few months and working on new stuff. We have a bunch of new material ready to go. We are scheduled to record March 12 with Siegfried Meier.

We are all very excited and can't wait to get down to business. Shows to follow."

Trollfest - Recording New Album

Official press release

Trollfest, the Oslo-based black metallers who describe their music as True Norwegian Balkan Black Metal, recently entered the Strand Studio in Oslo to record the band's fourth full-length album and have released an update on the proceedings via a video. In what has become something of a tradition with Trollfest, the whole recording process is once again being filmed by Manskow Productions and the first update contains interviews with various band members, as well as clips from the studio that give a taste of what can be expected from the new album. The band will be looking for a new label to release the album. The video can be seen on the band's MySpace page.

With a line up that includes musicians from bands as varied as Urgehal, Pantheon I, Untime, Melch, Hallucinations, Powersword and Sarkom, Trollfest's members bring with them not only a wealth of experience and the skill to make use of instruments like the accordion, the banjo and the saxophone, but also a sense of diversity that allows the band to create a sound that is distinctly its own. Whilst "True Norwegian Balkans Black Metal" goes some way towards describing the Trollfest sound - hinting as it does at the extreme end of metal, with a good pinch of local traditional folk - it doesn't really go the whole way towards capturing the sense of fun and sheer exuberance with which the band tackles everything it does, whether it involves playing in the studio or performing live.

Guitarist John Espen Sagstad comments: "As things stand now, and of course baring any unexpected inspiration that might come to us during the consumption of large quantities of alcoholic beverages, the new album will consist of nine tracks. Tracks, which, incidentally, we consider to be the most exotic tunes we've produced to date, and which, needless to say, will bear the all hallmarks of the usual over-the-top madness that the fans have come to love and expect from Trollfest!"

Evocation - Working On New Material

Swedish death metallers Evocation have issued the following update:

"Dear brothers and sisters, it's January 2010 and it's cold, dark and kinda depressive. This is the perfect conditions for us to start recording our full length #3, which is also once again going to be released by the mighty Cyclone Empire in the fall this year; we're aiming at October. We have 11 new tracks and right now we are finishing up our pre-recordings and we have to say that it feels really good. The sound will be more raw but it will still be as Evocation as one can expect - plain, raw and brutal. Some of the new songs will hit your faces with such a force that you will have trouble recovering afterwards.

We leave 2009 with proud faces, having such a good festival summer and last but not least the mighty European tour together with Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus and Obscura. All of the bands were amazing both in private as on stage. This leaves us nothing but strength and confidence for the next album and hunger for more, more and more. So our dear friends we see you soon, and prepare your selfs for a reunion in war."

The Project Hate MCMXCIX - Line-Up Changes

Swedish Industrial Death metallers The Project Hate MCMXCIX have issued the following update:

"It's 2010 and we thought we should start off the new year by making quite a bit of changes. Some might come as a total surprise, some may not. We were never a band who gave a fuck about what other people think anyways. That sounded cool, huh?

First off we wanna thank Jo Enckell for her work with The Project Hate since 2003. She's done a great job on the albums she's been a part of and will always be a huge part of TPH's history. Yes, Ms. Jo is no longer a part of TPH. There are no grudges held or anything, we just feel it's time to enter a new stage in our career. This is what Jo has to say about this: "I'm so happy to have been a part of The Project Hate MCMXCIX, to have been able to participate on four killer albums! This band will always have a special place in my heart. I love you guys and to all the fans - you rule! - Jo"

Many of you will wonder why Jo is relieved of duty after all these years. It's simple - we have done fantastic albums with her since Hate, Dominate, Congregate, Eliminate some 7 years ago, but now we feel it's time to go for another type of vocals when it comes to the female parts. We are looking for something else to further enhance our sound. And we have found it. In fucken Portugal of all places.

Let us introduce Ms. Roque to the fold. A killer chick with an absolutely fantastic voice including range, dynamics and power. Ms. Roque is destined to make her mark in TPH history with the strongest vocals we have ever had. You will have more info on her shortly in case you don't have the strength to Google her yourself. In her own words: "I'm very proud and thankful to be joining TPH, its an honour to be joining forces with such talented musicians. A big thank you to Lord K for believing in me and my "pipes" ! To all the fans of TPH , I promise you guys that I won't let you guys down! I'm very motivated and ready to kick some serious ass!! Truly yours - Ruby"

Welcome Ms. Roque to The Hate. We are extremely happy to have her on board and look forward to work with her for years and years to come.

We are not done yet though... What? We are changing drummer as well? Yes, we are. Thomas Ohlsson (Axenstar), who played on The Lustrate Process and did a great job with it, is also replaced. Why? Well, sometimes the answer is right in front of you, you just forget to look since it's too close. Of course Tobben Gustafsson of Torture Division and Vomitory is the man to be the last piece of the Hate puzzle. It dawned on us some time ago; why the hell isn't one of our fave drummers and best friends playing drums for TPH? We know what this guy is capable of and it's safe to say we'll get the finest drumming of our career with the next album by having Golden T on it. As said before, his nickname isn't fucken Golden for nothing, you know. Here's what Tobben has to say about being the new drummer: "I am very excited to join forces with K and J again, but now in The Project Hate MCMXCIX! From having been not so impressed in the beginning, I have grown to like this band a lot over the years. Their sound is truly unique and it's not the kind of metal I'm used to play, so it will be a big challenge for me to take on this honourable task. It will demand a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and frustration but I know it will all be worth it in the end. Prepare for a masterpiece!"

One Man Army And The Undead Quartet - Working On New Material

Vocalist Johan Lindstrand of Swedish Death metallers One Man Army And The Undead Quartet has issued the folowing update:

"2010 will mark the beginning of a new era for us. With a brand new line up we will record a brand new album. The 3rd of January we kinda woke up after a couple of months of silence and rest. It has been great to just relax all this time and not thinking of anything else but to recharge the batteries. But at one point you need to get back on track.

We actually went to the rehearsal room and picked up 2 brand new songs written by guitarist Jonas Blom. They sound pretty different to what we have done before and they feel great. Time will tell how they will sound with vocals but I have a lot of cool stuff in mind. We already have like 3-4 songs to work with at the moment so we will definitely be ready to record in a couple of months. I hope you will join us on another ride."
