Europe - New Record Due Next April

Sweden's biggest rock band Europe has confirmed that their next studio album is slated for an April 2012 release. The recording for Europe's new album begins in Stockholm on October 3rd with produced Kevin Shirley.

No stranger to the 'crème de la crème' of iconic rock records, Shirley has produced albums for Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa, Black Country Communion, Black Stone Cherry, Journey and many more.

"We still feel we have one hell of a rock record to make," says Europe's singer Joey Tempest. "Kevin's the man for the job. We love his work with Bonamassa, Black Country Communion, and Black Stone Cherry. He's the real deal. We're ready to do some serious damage."

Last week Europe met up with Shirley in Stockholm to discuss the direction of the next album. Based on reactions from the fans and media, Europe's 2009 album Last Look at Eden proved to be the band's most important record since The Final Countdown.

"I've been a big fan of Europe's work for many years," says Shirley. "The band is influential and highly underrated. I can't wait to make the upcoming album their most explosive to date."

After summer 2011, Europe will finish the promotion of Last Look at Eden tour, and will start to focus their energy on the next album produced by Shirley.

"We've toured for one and a half years," adds Tempest. "It's time to write and record some new songs and get back on the road again in 2012."
The new material suggests a more straight forward rock approach evident in "Doghouse"; a new song Europe performed on their recent UK tour. The song is also featured on Europe's upcoming Europe: Live at Shepherd's Bush DVD, released August 2011 on earMUSIC CDs and DVDs.

earMUSIC is also about to release a limited deluxe book with pictures be Denis O'Regan. "Live Look At Eden" features exclusive live audio and the stunning performance at last year iTunes Festival in London.

Rudra - Part Ways With Guitarist

Singaporean thrash/death metallers Rudra have parted ways with their guitarist Devan.

The band commented as follows on the departure: "Our dear friend and bandmate, Devan has decided to quit the band due to personal reasons. His contribution to the sound of Rudra cannot be understated as he has been part of Rudra since 2008 and the last two albums bear testimony to the fact that he was a great songwriter. His commitment, sacrifices and work ethics are things that we will never forget and shall remain as pleasant memories. Nevertheless everyone of us and our Management wish him and his family well and the best.

In spite of the turn of events, Rudra will continue on as always! The Brahmavidya Tour 2011/2012 will go on as planned. As the famous dictum goes "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger"."

Welicoruss - Add New Keyboardist And Bassist To The Ranks

Russian symphonic black metallers Welicoruss are joined by a new bassist and keyboard player.

Original keyboardist Demid Polyansky and bassist Alexander Golovin left the band last year in autumn due to their "occupancy in other areas". They will be replaced by Boris "Sens" Voskolovich and Alexey "Alex" Boldin respectively

Welicoruss frontman and guitarist Alexey released the following message: "We started our work with Boris as far back as autumn and I'm fully satisfied with his approach and creative potential. This guy is the next Warman to come! Alexey joined us some later, he is responsive and positive guy, which is also very creative and skilled.

At the moment we are recording our third album and every member of our group takes part. This is a distinctive feature of the new material - this music is composed by all us together. What now we get is what I really like and enjoy - it is a worthy continuation of our previous albums!"

Threat Signal - Enter The Studio This Week

Canadian metallers Threat Signal will enter the studio this weekend to begin recording their as-yet-untitled third album with producer Chriss "Zeuss" Harris.

The band issued the following statement: "On June 12th we are driving our asses out to Massachusetts to begin tracking our 3rd release with metal mastermind Zeuss. He has worked on many killer albums from bands such as Chimaira, Hatebreed, All That Remains, The Acacia Strain, Born Of Osiris, Shadows Fall, and many more... We are extremely excited to have Zeuss on board producing and mixing our new record!

So what can you expect from the new Threat Signal record? Well... basically we said let's write the heaviest fuckin record we possibly can. We've been experimenting with 7 string guitars and drop tunings since the early days, so we have decided to write almost the whole new record that way. We are headed back to the Under Reprisal days but with bigger balls.'

Svartsot - New Album Details Revealed

Maledictus Eris, the new upcoming album of Danish folk metal band Svartsot will be released in July/August.

The band released the following statement: "We're proud to be able to release the cover artwork and tracklist for the third Svartsot album; Maledictus Eris. As previously announced, the album recounts the tale of the Black Death's incursion into Danish history from 1349 to 1350. The album begins the tale from just prior to the plague's arrival through to when the first bout relinquished its grasp, and focuses on the way the epidemic affected the population - from victim to survivor. We have taken more inspiration from medieval music than on previous albums, and the feel of the album in general has taken a darker and more emotive turn on this recording.

We are extremely satisfied with the way this album has turned out and hope that the fans - both old and new - will take kindly to it. But at the same time, we should also make clear that this album is somewhat different to its predecessors, and not for the worse as far as we're concerned.

We have a series of live dates in Denmark lined up for after the release, and hope to be able to add more European dates to the list soon. News on dates and leading up to the release will be posted as soon as we have it."

Album Release Dates:

27.07.2011 Spain, Finland, Sweden
29.07.2011 Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg
01.08.2011 Rest Of Europe
09.08.2011 USA, Canada

Maledictus Eris tracklist:

01. Staden...
02. Gud Giv Det Varer Ved!
03. Dødedansen
04. Farsoten Kom
05. Holdt Ned Af En Tjørn
06. Den Forgængelige Tro
07. Om Jeg Lever Kveg
08. Kunsten At Dø
09. Den Nidske Gud
10. Spigrene
11. ...Og Landet Ligger Så Øde Hen
