Borknagar - Ink Deal With Century Media

Borknagar has inked a three-album deal with Century Media Records. The band is currently working on material for its new CD, tentatively due in early 2012.

Commented Borknagar mainman Øystein G. Brun: "Well, sometimes life takes slightly unexpected yet great turns! Due to internal business affairs, the deal with Indie recordings was mutually terminated by both parties in January 2011. Since then we have been negotiating a possible re-signing with Century Media Records.

While you are reading this, Jens F. Ryland and I are at the headquarters of Century Media Records in Dortmund to ink a new deal with our old partners in crime. It feels very good to be back in the fold of the mighty Century family; there is simply no team, no label alike. Thanks to Jens Preuter (head of A&R), we have worked out and landed a deal that we are 110 percent sure will serve the future endeavors of Borknagar in the best possible and most potent way. We share so much history with Century Media Records and we are now preparing to create more musical history for the future to come ? together with our friends at the Century family!"

Added Preuter: "We are very proud to welcome back such a great and highly influential band. Whether you want to call it black, progressive, Viking, folk or whatever metal, Borknagar always managed to be just themselves on a unique and high level. I already heard some pre-production demos from the upcoming album and I can tell you it will be not just another masterpiece, but probably the best material they've done so far."

Astral Doors - Working On New Album

Swedish traditional heavy metal band Astral Doors are busy working on a new album, tentatively penciled in for an October release.

The band revealed the following about the upcoming album: "The work with the upcoming album continues. Even though we're not even half way through the process we can already feel that this release will be something special. This time around we deal with religion, and all the shit it has brought to the world, once and for all and the working title of the album is Jerusalem. Our intention is that the album will be released in October in connection with a European tour.

The first DVD from the band is also in the making. Some additional material will be filmed this summer and we're talking about a winter release."

Enforcer - Guitarist Quits The Band

Guitarist Adam Zaars (also in Tribulation) has quit Swedish traditional heavy metal band Enforcer.

Adam Zaars issued the following statement: "After 5 years, 2 albums and almost 200 gigs in the band I have decided to tread new paths in life hence leaving Enforcer behind. I made this decision in January and told the band in China, on the way home from a truly memorable visit in South Korea and Japan. A good ending I figured. The decision was inevitable, yet of course a difficult one to make. I would like to thank the rest of the guys in the band for everything we've been through, the trials and the tribulations and the simply good times. I would also like to thank all the people that have helped us through the years. I want to wish Enforcer all the best for the future!"

The band added the following: "All shows and tours will however continue as planned. Even though it is a great loss for the band we must emphasize that this will not affect our future plans of world domination even perceptibly. The band will continue, head on without speed limit as planned without any change of style, musically or stylewise. From now on, Enforcer will continue as a four piece band where Olof will play both guitar and handle the vocal duties. Enforcer would also like to thank Adam for his time in the band and for all his contributions that made Enforcer what we are."

Dragonland - Will Enter The Studio In May

After five years Dragonland's latest masterpiece, fifth album and follow up to 2006's Astronomy is nearing completion. This latest opus is set to be recorded at Hansen Studios starting May 31st.

Several different studios will be used to put this utterly ambitious album together, though Jacob Hansen is set to put his magic touch to the mix. Twelve songs will recorded, and the music itself is founded upon a a deep and emotional story, picking up where second album Holy War left off nine years ago.

Commented guitarist Olof Mörck: "After 5 years of doing concepts, writing lyrics and composing we are seeing the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel! After Astronomy we knew we needed to explore our music further not to risk becoming a band that releases music every year cast in the same mold, so the idea from the beginning was; what would it be like with a metal album based in fantasy that respects the literary genre, that actually tries to be mature and that enriches said fantasy world with inspiration from millenias of human mythology? To make a neoclassical album filled with overly bombastic clichés of steel clad warriors was out of the question - instead we explored the themes and sounds around various fantasy movies, new and old, and also countless computer RPG soundtracks to infuse the musical aspect with a genuine fantasy feel, and as previously stated heaps and stacks of tomes on every mythological tale from Gilgamesh to the Aeneid provided a genuine and credible backdrop to the story.

The album is genuinely a concept album in every aspect, and we will collaborate with some truly gifted artists who are experts in this genre to bring our world to life visually - more on that soon.Prepare yourself to be engulfed in a world of enchanting fantasy and songs of swirling magic later this year!"
