Eluveitie - Recording New Material

Swiss metallers Eluveitie have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Hails everybody!

Some of you might have heard some rumours about it already... and it's true, we're heavily working on our new album!
Since since 2,5 weeks already we're in the studio, recording our next sword blow. Drums and most of the guitars are already nailed!

And as yet we are really, really satisfied. I mean really! We've decided to record our upcoming album in the famous Swiss Newsound studios, owned and run by none lesser than Coroner mastermind Tommy Vetterli (also ex-Kreator and former live guitarist of Vodoo Cult)!

And so far it is hell of a pleasure to work with him, engeneering and recording the album! It's great to profit of his enormeous experience (both, as producer/engeneer, as well as musician) on one hand, but also to work and have a good time with him as a very likeable and down-to-earth guy on the other hand.

And judging after how the so far recorded tracks sound, this album will definitely cleave your heads open!

The album will be mixed by the british soundforge god Colin Richardson (Behemoth, Machine Head, Kreator, Sepultura, Carcass, Slipknot, As I Lay Dying, Trivium and many more).

And this brings me to the next thing to mention: Yes, after an acoustic release we're thoroughly up for a massive metal album again! So "Evocation I" kinda became the well known "calm before the storm".

Some of the songs on this album I began to write quite a long time ago, some others developped in a very short time during the last couple of months. All in all I think that this album becomes our most dark and severe release so far - brimmed with mystical, convoluted and partly insanely fast celtic folk melody lines, but at the same time with pure, juggernautish metal. The album's probably more "metal" than any other release we did so far.

So stay tuned!

I wish all of you some great and pleasant autum weeks! We'll be back with more news in a while... but for now I have to go "back to work" and prepare some angry and nasty vocal recordings.

Cheers from the studio.

Chrigel."

Darkthrone - Enter The Studio In October

Ted "Nocturno Culto" "Kveldulv" Skjellum of Darkthrone has issued the short following update on his own MySpace blog:

"This night of the late October...

...The Darkside opens it's gates... ok, enough of "Under A Funeral Moon", but really, late October will see Darkthrone through the last recording "session" for the new album, we've had a long summerbreak now and it's time to face winter/death. Right, and Abscess is recording the last release on Tyrant's label mid October, and this should be jawdropping greatness. Mark my words.

Apart from that my soul nearly explodes this autumn."

Ravage - Part Ways With Drummer, Replacement Announced

US metallers Ravage have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"It is with regret that I must inform you all that George "GTB" Bellofatto is no longer a member of Ravage. Change has been a constant in this band since we began quite a while back, but I had hoped our most recent line-up would be stable for once - unfortunately, that was not in the cards and once again we have a change in the rhythm section.

"GTB" has left the band to concentrate on his career outside of music and we wish him the best of luck with that and with any future musical projects he may undertake. We were lucky enough to have enlisted the aid of a great young local drummer named Pete Webber and we can now announce that he will be a permenant member of Ravage.

Pete has played all of the dates on our current US tour, including our successful CD release party and he brings an abundance of skill and creativity. His performances have already gotten rave reviews from those in attendance and I have no doubt that his playing will add a new element of power, speed, and musical depth to future recordings. Also, how ironic is it that we happened to find a drummer named Pete Webber for our Spider Over North America Tour... it just makes sense right? Also you can view some old videos of Pete's playing on Youtube at this location."

The Amenta - Part Ways With Two Members, Replacements Announced

Official press release

Sydney, Australia's premier extreme metal unit, The Amenta recently announced the departure of vocalist Jarrod Krafczyk and bassist Dale Harrison. The two have been replaced by Cain Cressall (Malignant Monster) and Dan Quinlan (Pain Division) respectively. The Amenta will showcase its new lineup at Against The Grain Festival (September 19th), and a series of Australian shows before the band embarks on the Monsters Of Death Tour in North America this fall with Vader, Decrepit Birth, Warbringer, Augury and Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky.

Keyboardist Timothy Pope made the following remarks on the lineup changes: "Firstly we would like to thank Jarrod and Dale for all their hard work for the band. They both put in amazing effort throughout their time with us. We would also like to congratulate Dale on his impending fatherhood. The split was very amicable and we wish them all the best. That said we are very excited to have Cain and Dan on board.

Dan has been a friend for a long time and has worked with us a sound engineer in the past... He is a great bass player and his touring experience with Pain Division as well as his vocal abilities means that Dan has already become an invaluable asset to The Amenta.

Cain was our one and only choice when we parted ways with Jarrod. We played with his band Malignant Monster in Perth early this year and his performance was a very hard act to follow. He has an amazingly versatile voice coupled with the best stage presence we have ever seen. I know that with these two on board The Amenta will be the strongest we've ever been.

We are very excited to embark on our first ever North American tour. To be sharing a stage with our friends in Vader again will be amazing and I am looking forward to seeing the other bands in action. We are looking forward to showing off our new line up and I know that we are going to blow some minds.

After the tour we are going to get stuck into writing the follow up to last years, "n0n". I'm not sure what direction the album will take yet but you can rest assured that it will be extreme, challenging and unlike anything we, or anyone else, has done before.

It's been a great year for The Amenta and the Monsters of Death tour is the perfect end. Prepare yourselves North America. You haven't seen anything like us before."

The Red Chord - New Album Details And New Song Online

Official press release

Boston Massachusetts metalers The Red Chord are gearing up for the release of their fourth full length album (third for Metal Blade) titled "Fed Through The Teeth Machine", due out on October 27th in the US. The Red Chord already has dates lined up with labelmates and interplanetary gods Gwar along with labelmates Job For A Cowboy. The nearly two and a half month trek with Gwar and Job For A Cowboy will take The Red Chord across the United States kicking off in Houston Texas on September 29th and finishing up in New York City on December 13th.

Here's what guitarist Mike "Gunface" McKenzie has to say about the band's new album "Fed Through the Teeth Machine"; "We spent the last year working hard on this one and we're excited for everyone to finally hear it. It's a lot faster and, in my opinion, more straight forward in a structural sense. We're really happy with the great work Jonny Fay and Zeuss did too. It's not a concept record, but there are some loose conceptual elements to it: hygienic obsession, delusional compound-dwellers and Maniac Mansion. Get ready to make fun of us on the internet!"

In conjunction with the release of "Fed Through The Teeth Machine", The Red Chord has just uploaded the brand new track "Demoralizer" to their freshly updated MySpace page that showcases the album's artwork. Check out the new MySpace design and track "Demoralizer" here.

""Demoralizer" kind of sums up what the record is about. It's aggressive and fast with some darker melodic parts. Probably one of the angriest-sounding songs we've recorded, which fits the records vibe" comments Mike "Gunface" McKenzie.

While the heavy music scene is flooded and littered with trendy, "current" fusion bands that string together electronics and mosh and pretend to be as brutal as fuck, The Red Chord aren't having any of it. The music on "Fed Through The Teeth Machine" is like a hulking hammer that rips and tears at the fabric of all that is trend-driven. But The Red Chord aren't making music for that purpose; they're just good enough to flip off trends and top the bands that perpetrate them. The Massachusetts band - which has downsized to a lean 'n mean four-piece to counteract the bad economy function as a quartet without sacrificing any of their Rottweiler-like ferocity and tenacity - continues to focus on making extreme metal, for extreme people who want something lyrically and musically outside the box and forward thinking and don't want some assembly-line, manufactured, "of the moment" band in their lives. Put simply: If you want to have your bones reduced to dust and your brain taken out scrambled and put back in by music, then The Red Chord are up for that task with "Fed Through The Teeth Machine".
