Breathing life into a weathered metal art form, the best of black metal-esque surprises abound. With a sound larger than life and the ammo to back it up, Nephesh unfolds before us a darkened tapestry smeared black of war, desperation, fear, struggle, death, and triumph. To hell with the likes of Dimmu Borgir, Dark Funeral, and Deicide, enter the grandiose creative expressions of Nephesh. Solid craftsmanship, top-notch production, bold lyrical prose, inspiring epic proportions, and knock-out packaging, as expected from Nokternal Hemizphear, make "Inter Armas Silent Leges" the unsuspected release of 2009! Those who crave the symphonic metal exploits of Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir, Dark Funeral, Divine Symphony, Grave Declaration, Antestor, and Keep Of Kalessin look no further. In the end, it is a matter of letting Nephesh do the growling... the result is assured..."

Forgotten Tears - Recording Debut Full-Length

Italian melodic death metal/hardcore act Forgotten Tears recently uploaded the first two webisodes of the making of their forthcoming debut album "Words To End". They recently entered Fear Studio in Ravenna (Italy) to record the drums and, a few days ago, finished recording guitar parts at FT Studios in Lecco (Italy).

Singer, Faust, commented: "The album will be hopefully ready in a couple of months, then we will be looking for a good record label willing to pubblish and distribuite the album internationally." He adds: "We worked hard searching for the perfect compromise between our already evident European melodic death metal attitude and the newest wave of modern hardcore. I believe that this album will satisfy the appetite of all fans of the upgrowing modern metal, deathcore and hardcore scene. We really can't wait to share the new songs with our fans during our next live shows."

Mass Murder Inc. Booking Agency is already planning an European mini-tour for the next spring that will involve few shows in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Slovenia.

Further news will follow very soon.

Crucifist - New Song Online

Rochester NY's lords of raw old-school black metal mayhem Crucifist have finally unleashed their long awaited debut "Demon Haunted World".

Featuring bassist Danny Lilker (Brutal Truth etc.) and guitarist John Gallo (of US doom lords Orodruin), Crucifist's debut album was a long time coming until finally, after several opportunities fell through for the band, Profound Lore came in to help the band finally get this album of theirs out, after we pretty much salivated after hearing the material that inevitably would grace this head/fist banging feast.

A sinister mix of old school blackness that reference such elite acts as Celtic Frost/Hellhammer, Venom, Bathory, Autopsy along with a slight NWOBHM feel that can't help but bleed from John Gallo's awesome guitar riffs (especially seeing that Gallo is one of the great guitarists of doom metal today).

Along with such acts as Aura Noir, Nifelheim, Midnight, and Villains, Crucifist are one of the very few bands today that can deliver such a vibe that brings that ancient spirit back from such glory days. A definite rarity these days especially considering all these other bigger and newer bands getting praised for bringing back or "reviving" that elusive era of years past, bands like Crucifist will pretty much serve as the fist in the face to all these other bands.

"Demon Haunted World" cover art] tracklist:

01. Pursuit Of The Pious
02. Putrid Mother Lode
03. Skull Smashing Face Ripping Death
04. Honor .mp3]
05. Curse Of The Plasma Hound
06. Tumefaction
07. Neon Corpse
08. Demon Haunted World
09. Witchgrip
10. Angel Of Death
11. Anus Mundi

All info about the band on http://www.myspace.com/crucifist.

Exodus - Terminal Press To Release Exodus Comic Book

Following a Dimmu Borgir comic book - Link] - Terminal Press will release a comic starring Exodus, entitled "Exodus: Death Begets Death". Here's the official press release:

Thrash metal legends Exodus are the subject of the new Terminal Press comics/metal crossover comic book "Exodus: Death Begets Death".

You'll learn your lesson in violence with this one-shot apocalyptic horror comic book that will incorporated themes and imagery from the band's back catalog, focusing specifically on "Bonded By Blood", "Tempo of the Damned", "Shovel Headed Kill Machine", and "The Atrocity Exhibition - Exhibit A" (so I guess they won't do... the "Toxic Waltz").

Not only will the story be about the theme's of Exodus' music, but the Bay Area bashers themselves will make an appearance as five crazed prisoners sent on a mission to stop a a supernatural being who calls herself the Earth Mother, who's wiping out armies.

Set in a ruined America of the near future, the story follows two war generals who rule over military fiefdoms the size of time zones. General Scraw controls the west coast, while his twin brother General Scraggg reigns from a seat in Las Vegas. The twins amuse themselves by sending the military's toughest war toys, the Shovel Headed Kill Machines, into the deserts of the MidWaste to exterminate the human rabble that scrabbles for survival there. But when General Scraw learns that his military has been wiped out by a supernatural being calling herself the Earth Mother, he sends five crazed men who may or may not be the members of Exodus from the bowels of his own prison to stop her. But many more people will die before the strange woman gets what she wants, and the twin generals will learn the price of their own misdeeds.

"As many things as we get to do as a band, traveling the world, getting paid to drink and play thrash metal, I don't think anything can touch being immortalized in our own comic book! I am so stoked about this, you have no idea! This thing is sick and I can't wait for it to come to life for the world to see!" says Exodus' Gary Holt.

"Exodus is the living embodiment of Thrash Metal, doing it right and blowing audiences away to this day. To say getting to work on this project is an honor would be an understatement. It is our responsibility to make sure this book slays and we happily take that challenge on," says Terminal Press publisher and "Dimmu Borgir: Dark Fortress" writer Brian Ferrara.

Cautiva - Album Available For Download

After a bit more than a year of hard work, the new album of the Spanish project/band Cautiva has been released. In this occasion the recording is titled "Human" and it continues the proposal of technical and progressive thrash metal that the project began in 2006. Along the last year the composition has turned more aggressive and sophisticated, introducing this as a long-play of very intense and powerful thrash metal which will be a pleasure for all those people who loved the more elaborated period of bands as Megadeth, Coroner, Exodus or Death. In this link it's possible to listen some extracts showing the actual proposal here (.mp3) or on MySpace here.

"Human" has been recorded in its entirety by José Travieso, who has worked in the composition and the recording of all the instruments as much as the vocals, the engineering, mixing, mastering and programming. "Human" is a whole piece of craftwork, by means of it the artist has tried to make the best possible use of the resources that actually the average technological and instrumental equipment has, all it with the objective to prove that nowadays anybody can achieve a professional musical creation if he or she really proposes himself/herself.

With this transgressor posture and as it's usual in José Travieso's musical production, "Human" has been released under a Creative Commons license which allows the free copy and distribution of the album around all the world. For example, it's possible to download the album direct and legally from this location.

This release for free download of the album includes covers and art work, as much as two interesting bonus tracks. On one hand, the song "Two Worlds", where the singer Sergio Rubal collaborates putting the main vocals. On the other hand, "Tunguska", a mini-LP of three pieces presenting a string quartet written by José Travieso and which shows the usual musical style of the artist, in a neoclassical-experimental context very different to the Cautiva project.

Winterwolf - Sign To Xtreem Music

Xtreem Music is more than proud to announce the signing of one of the most well hidden treasures in the finnish Death Metal scene. This band is no other than Winterwolf, whose one of their interesting point is the feature on their ranks of Demilich's mastermind Antti Boman on both guitar/vocals.

Winterwolf started back in 1997 and was active until 2001 when the band changed its name into Deathchain after recording 2 demos. However, in 2006, original band members decided to bring back to life Winterwolf and during 2009 the band decided to record their debut full length album "Cycle of the Werewolf" which came to the ears of Xtreem Music, during its recording process, who immediately offered the band a deal for its release.

"Cycles of the Werewolf", by band's decision, will be initially release on 12"LP vinyl format on a limited edition of 500 copies in early October 2009 and will be followed by CD version some months after, maybe December 2009 or maybe January 2010.

This album is an absolutely masterpiece of pure scandivanian Death Metal, strongly rooted in the early swedish scene of bands like Entombed, Carnage and Dismember although with a different feel by the addition of influences from bands like Bolt Thrower, Demilich, Obituary, Celtic Frost... which surely adds a killer feel to this album that will for sure crush all these "we-are-true-old-school-boys" which constantly fail in their imitations of the true sound and feeling of the early scandinavian Death Metal. Winterwolf will blow your ears with perhaps the most fresh, heavy, intense and "perfect" album since Entombed's "Left Hand Path".

You can listen to three tracks from Winterwolf's imminent debut album on the band's official MySpace.

Impetuous Ritual - Debut Album Details

Profound Lore Records press release

Australia's new gods of abhorrent brutal atmospheric death metal, Impetuous Ritual, have completed work on their debut album, "Relentless Execution Of Ceremonial Excrescence".

Featuring two members from fellow like-minded death metal fiends Portal, Impetuous Ritual have delivered a work of true death metal blasphemy that comes across as a vile mix of the crawling doomy dirge-like ambience of Incantation's "Onward To Golgotha", the ferocious sonic violence of Bestial Warlust's "Blood And Valour" and with the surreal-like blurred riffing of Portal respectively. Nonetheless "Relentless Execution" shall deliver its unholy carnage in manifesting a true vision of what brutal death metal should portray.

To be released by year's end (around early December), the tracklisting for "Relentless Execution of Ceremonial Excrescence" cover artwork] goes as following:

01. Elegy

Battle Of Mice - Call It A Day

Battle Of Mice has called it quits. Here's the official statement:

"After two critically acclaimed releases, Battle Of Mice has been officially and amicably dissolved. Never before has the story of a violent, interpersonal flameout been so aurally documented. It was intense while it lasted, but we should all be thankful that the band has ended; not with a bang, but with a whimper.

What the future holds:

The full length vinyl may still make an appearance sometime next year. We are waiting for the final word on that one.

Julie Christmas (Made Out Of Babies) is currently working on a solo record, be on the lookout. The record features almost an entirely different lineup on each song, featuring many special guests.

Josh Graham's (Neurosis, Red Sparowes) new band, A Storm Of Light, has a new release coming out September 2009. The record is called "Forgive Us Our Trespasses", and features Jarboe, Nerissa Campbell, Lydia Lunch, and more.

Joel Hamilton and Tony Maimone are both working on the next Book Of Knots record. Both are recording madmen as well. Joel recorded and plays on A Storm Of Light's record, and just finished recording the new Black Keys album.

Joe Tomino (The Fugees, Peeping Tom) has been on tour with his band Dub Trio, as well as playing with many others including Mike Patton.

That is about it. Be Well. Sleep and Dream."
