Mens Rea - New Video Online

Mens Rea is an Israeli Hard Rock/Grunge group, consisting of four 25 year old members. The band plays original music that has already received plenty of acclamations. The band's songs have been played on Israel's national radio, and have created quite a buzz. The 1st song on the band's MySpace, entitled "Abandoned", was recently released, and is the group's best song yet (probably because of its amazing guitar line). In addition, "Abandoned" has been selected by JMG (Jewish Music Group) for a compilation called "Israel Unleashed", released last November in the United States, and distributed by Sony/BMG. A video clip has also been released for this song.

During the last 2 years, the group has performed quite a lot (approximately 60 shows), including 2 gigs in major Israeli festivals (The Bereshit Festival and Tel Aviv University's Student Day) and a tour in the U.S (New York and New Jersey), with the band playing at "Kenny's Castaways", where huge artists such as Aerosmith and Bruce Springsteen have started their careers.
The members are currently living and working in Israel, but are craving for an International career (so that a relocation is an option), and therefore all of the songs are in English. The members are university students or recent graduates, yet they will happily give up their studies and day time jobs to make the above dream come true.

Desultory - Reform, Working On New Album

Pulverised Records press release:

It is with our immense pleasure to announce that we had dug up an old Swedish Death Metal gem from the late 80's and bring you the legendary Desultory. With three ridiculously under-rated albums ("Into Eternity", "Bitterness" and "Swallow The Snake" respectively) under Metal Blade Records, the band was put to sleep indefinitely and was conjured back to life only recently. We are very eager to see what form of Death Metal disaster awaits us with this classic resurrection.

The band comments: "We are very pleased to sign with Pulverised Records as they have a very good reputation here in Sweden. Professional guys and fans of the Death Metal scene, just as it should be. After our 3rd album in 1996, we put Desultory to sleep and went on to explore other musical directions. But now, 13 years later, we are back again, we felt the need to create some new Death Metal and that it was time for Desultory to be reborn. The new material for the forthcoming record will be a touch of the old Desultory but mixed up with new influences. It will be hard, brutal and melodic.

Two lineup changes: Håkan Morberg is now playing lead guitar (before he was playing bass) and Jojje Bohlin is handling the bass. Still Klas Morberg on vox and guitar and Thomas Johnson smashing the drums.

We´re really looking forward to see you on tour or on a festival somewhere!"

Homo Iratus - Reunited

After almost two years after their break up, the Greek groove/death/grind band Homo Iratus are finally back to kick some serious ass. During the past two years, most of the members enrolled in other projects/bands and now that they reunited they are ready to bring the Greek death metal scene onto a higher level.

"What's really interesting is the current line up of the band... So we have Mitch on vocals, Angelos on bass, Argy on drums and Kostas on guitars - Homo Iratus' first guitarist. However, there's also another member on guitars who recently joined the band, Kostas. During the past two years following the break up of Homo Iratus, Angelos, Argy and the band's new member, Kostas, formed "God Of Rotors" and this is how they initially decided to include Kostas in the current line up of Homo Iratus."

The band is currently trying out some ideas for new tracks and at the same time they are rehearsing older ones. All this indicates that Homo Iratus will soon record a new album, which - according to what is stated on their official page on MySpace - is most likely to pick up back at "Human Consumes Human" and they will most probably at some point go on tour, both in Greece and abroad.

Bassist Angelos adds: "We are taking our time to reorganize and reorder everything while rehearsing old material and jamming new ideas. Things will pick up at "Human Consumes Human" and "Apocalypse" while adding a new breath of fresh mosh provoking, head banging, concrete bastard sized riffs. We will obviously do shows as soon as we are properly prepared and will present material from all 3 albums (2 old releases plus the new one). There is no speciffic timetable at the time being we are letting things evovle naturally to the point where we can hit the recording studio and stages again."

Homo Iratus current line up looks as follows:

Mitch - vocals ("Human Consumes Human")
Angelos - bass ("Human Consumes Human", "Knowledge? Their Enemy", "Apocalypse")
Argy - drums ("Absence of Progress", "Human Consumes Human", "Knowledge? Their Enemy", "Apocalypse")
Kostas - guitars ("Absence Of Progress")
Kostas - guitars (new member, "God of Rotors", "Sklerotikz")

Perseo Miranda - To Release New Single

Italian metal band Perseo Miranda have recorded a new single with Pierangelo "Pier" Gonella (known from Necrodeath and Labyrinth fame).

"Lodger Records are releasing the fourth release by Perseo Miranda: a single with two tracks, entitled "Parallel Dimension" and "The Mountain". The new single was recorded at The Quake Studio in Genoa (Italy). This release marks an important turning point for the Genoese artists, who might have abandoned the dark Gothic metal, which characterised the "Light And Darkness" and "Evolution Of The Spirit" records, to give in to a personal Thrash/Prog metal, more elaborated and incisive a style.

Perseo Miranda wrote both the lyrics and the music, Pier Gonnella - official guitarist of Necrodeath and Labyrinth - plays guitar and bass guitar. Gonnella with great art alterns the sheer vocal melodies of Perrseo with amazing solos. Along with Gonnella, we find the American drummer Mick Johnson.

It is possible to listen to the single "Parallel Dimensions" on the band's MySpace page.

Meanwhile Perseo Miranda is about to complete his next album: "It'll be ready in a couple of months, then I'll be able to play it live with my new band"."

...In Deviltry - New Band Of Ex-Theatre Of Tragedy Guitarist

...In Deviltry was formed by Tommy Lindal in late 2008. Tommy Lindal who left the Norwegian band Theatre Of Tragedy in 1997 for medical reasons, moved to Brasil, was not ready to quit making music and formed the band "...In Deviltry" with all Brazilian members. ...In Deviltry will be Tommy´s sequel.

The whole idea of the band is to continue the saga that Theatre Of Tragedy began writing in the beginning. It has been decided to only play old Theatre Of Tragedy material from this epic for one reason, to get all members to "communicate" in the same language, before they start writing new material early this year.

2009 will be a very busy year for ...In Deviltry that will consist of shows, touring and recordings. They are still waiting for the bands Ravenland and Semblant to release their albums and go on tour which is aparently going to be in march/april next year. ...In Deviltry´s Tommy Lindal also did a guest appearance last week and recorded two songs for the release of Ravenland´s "And A Crow Brings Me Back" CD that is scheduled for an release by the Brazilian recordcompany "Free Mind Records" in March 2008.

Last week, though, 3 members (vocalist Gerson Carvalho (Primordium), bassist Alex Pereira (Lord Blasphemate) and drummer Matheus Medeiros) left the band.

The remaining ...In Deviltry line up looks as follows:

Larisse Katarine (Mystic Melody) - vocals
Tommy Lindal - guitars
Thiago Varella (Primordium) - guitars
Ariane Salgado - violin
Luciana Varella - keyboards

More info about the band on http://www.indeviltry.com and http://www.myspace.com/indeviltry.

Dreadnaught - New Album On The Way

Seminal Australian hard rock/metal band, Dreadnaught, have completed the recording of a new LP CD in follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2006 RoadRunner release, "Dirty Music". The self-titled album will be the band's 6th studio release in its 15 year history and features the band's heaviest production to date.

The addition of ex-Alarum drummer, Matthew Racovalis has helped shape a highly diverse sounding record, more akin to the technical-thrash styled Dreadnaught of the mid-nineties; yet retaining the dynamic subtleties that has made Dreadnaught unique amongst their peers.

With an album release date set for March/April 2009 the band are currently planning tours of Australia, Europe and Japan later in 2009 and 2010. For a preview of some material from the LP visit Dreadnaught online at http://www.myspace.com.au/dreadnaughtmusic or http://www.dreadnaught.com.au

A picture of how the cover artwork will look like can be found here, while a preview of the song "Agony Ecstacy" is available on the band's MySpace.

Enslaved - Win Spellemann Metal Award

For the third time in five years, Enslaved have won the Spellemann Award (the Norwegian equivalent to the American Grammy) for Best Metal Album 2008 with their latest offering, "Vertebrae". The other nominated bands were Keep Of Kalessin ("Kolossus") and Benea Reach ("Alleviat").

Enslaved commented: "We're very honored to get our third Grammy! The party was good, we had a good time. We think the Grammy committee was very generous in giving all the artists two whole pitchers of ice water and selling 0.3 liters of flat beer for 7.5 Euros in the bar. Luckily, we robbed a bank on our way there and could afford getting absolutely smashed. We're having a rough Monday here. Thanks!"

Enslaved won a Spellemann Awards for Best Metal Album in 2006 for "Ruun" and in 2004 for "Isa". Last year the Award went to Mayhem and "Ordo Ad Chao".
