I'll probably be left alone in this, but Alissa is the best thing that could happen to Arch Enemy at the moment, AFAIC.

You're not I thought that too when the first single came out. They're back in the game to go big.

Well that was... interesting.

Not half bad compared to whats on Khaos Legions and definitely there biggest step in creativity in a long time. Just wish she didn't sing to the guitar notes on the chorus(one of my pet peeves in music). Anyway this song just single handedly inspired me to give the album a chance.

That melodic chorus with the "no more regrets" line doesn't work and kills the song.

Weakest song on the album imo, the chorus really doesn't do it for me but it's still a fucking great album. Considering there's not been many well known metal releases so far this year, i'd say it's one of the best albums i've heard in 2014.

Of course it's not AE's best album, but no doubt that Alissa is a great addition to the band. IMO it would have been weaker than that if it was Angela!

What's more to it than: she sucks. Fluffy feelings and publicity aside, she detracts from the band's quality of output.

Personally i prefer Alissa with The Agonist. Her vocals are more metalcore than melodeath. But AE with Angela was getting bad anyway and they needed new blood. I think Alissa needs more time!

Yeah, that's why they don't appeal to me, bland metalcore. Not really an issue though, since I probably won't be listening to any of their new material. Maybe in time she will improve, but the issue is that she's using the fry technique, whereas Angela used false chord. It's hard for a female to get a decent sounding low-mid fry scream...

I liked Alissa's performance in "War Eternal" song, she performed that song better than the other ones. So far the replacement of Angela by Alissa is more commercial than technical!

As i consider Wages of Sin rather as a Liiva era album with Angela on vocals, and from Anthems of Rebellion on Gossow era it doesn"t surprise me that the new one sounds like they recognized the turd Khaos Legions was and made this a lite version of the rest of the Gossow era albums just with Alissa on vocals

Haha, that's like saying "compose your own Metal album and upload it here, instead of writing a review of an album".
