Lordi - Mainman Earns His First One Million Euros

According to Oikotimes.com, Lordi mastermind Mr. Lordi has earned his first million euros (approximately $1.28 million), reports the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat. The group's "Hard Rock Hallelujah" single has been sold over 300,000 copies all across Europe. Meanwhile, Lordi's latest album, "The Arockalypse", spent 11 weeks at the top of the Finnish album chart and has shifted more than 70,000 units in Finland alone. In the rest of Europe, "The Arockalypse" is believed to have sold around 250,000 copies. On September 20, a new version of "The Arockalypse" will be released, including a special DVD featuring footage from the Eurovision Song Contest, which Lordi won in May.

There is also a lot of other Lordi merchandise on the market already, including books, clothes and comics, and soon there will be a softdrink called Lordi Cola. The drink is expected to be a huge success in Finland, where it is projected to sell over million bottles in the first year. Mr. Lordi will naturally collect his share of every bottle of Lordi Cola that is sold and he continues to receive royalties every time songs from "The Arockalypse" are played on the radio.

Great news, 'cause I was really caring...

Ah well, another proof how the present society loves everything that is commercialised and has merchandise. Lordi is a smart man to bleed his "act" totally dry while he still has his moment of glory. Plus he will never earn that much money with only his music...

You can't tell if it's good for the music until next years Eurovision, I guess.

But this is kind of... Pathetic, actually.

So what u guys would say about KISS?
I'm still waiting for Dimmu Borgir cereal
There's nothing wrong with THIS band selling out. They are supposed to be like this. Rejecting this wouldn't be true in their case and not honest - simply hypocritical.

You guys just do not get it. Lordi's point IS to be commercial like KISS. That is what he wants. This I know because of my "connections."

yeah, i mean as long as it does not effect the music... no need to envy them (him), if they pull some money out of their fame. ok this it's not very metal if you have your own cola drink, but peole are just stupid enough to buy it (you'll see).
The only bad thing that i see in this whole sell-out thing is their connection with metal, so now every 10year old punk thinks he's a die-hard metalhead if he listens to Lordi.

Well, I don't really care about how much an artist earns...Blabbernews

But at least, this proved the Eurvosion to be useful. I don't think past winners had such a success, so this is once again the proof that metal/rock has a legitimate and underrated place in today's society.

Man if this was the early '90s they'd probably release a Lordi beat-em-up video game for the SNES. Man... that would be fucking great.

And yeah the music isnt that good, but fuck at least it's a style of metal that has already been mainstream in the past. Unlike Dimmu, Cradle, etc who are trying to bring "black" metal into the mainstream. You know the world has gone to hell when there are 12 year olds walking the streets wearing corpse-paint

Well it s cool that they won, but it s not all about the music. I have to aggree that their music isn t that good, but those guys (and woman playing the synth ) have put a LOT of effort in the band, and creating the monster "persona". They even wear the masks during interviews just to maintain their monster image.
Even if the music is not exactly what we expect from a metal band they have done a good job keeping their privacy, and they deserve respect for that...
