Nick Menza - Tribute Video On First Anniversary Of His Death

A video tribute to former Megadeth drummer Nick Menza, who passed away a year ago, can be seen below. The eighteen-minute clip features remembrances from David Ellefson (Megadeth), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Jason Bittner (Overkill, Shadows Fall), Rob Cavestany (Death Angel) and Chris Ojeda (Byzantine), among others.

On May 21st, 2016 Menza was performing live with his band, OHM at the Baked Potato jazz club in Studio City, CA and only three songs into the set, he collapsed onstage behind his drumkit. Menza was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. An autopsy later showed the cause of death to be congestive heart failure. He was 51 years old.

The drummer's memoir, "MegaLife: Nick Menza - The Book", by J. Marshall Craig will be published in October 2017, having been delayed and drastically rewritten in light of Nick's passing. According to a press release from Menza's manager Robert Bolger, the book will reveal how poorly Nick was being treated by Megadeth founder Dave Mustaine and the brutal truth of why there was never a Megadeth reunion with the most successful lineup of the thrash metal band.
