Cannibal Corpse - Pat O'Brien Released From Jail, Band Issues Statement (Update)
It's been a few days since Cannibal Corpse's guitarist Pat O'Brien was arrested for burglary and assault and the band has finally released a statement on the matter, now that he's been released on bail. According to them, Pat "is getting the help he needs" and all their shows will happen as planned.
Cannibal Corpse posted via Facebook: "As a band and as individuals, we all want nothing but the best for our brother and partner, Pat. While we can offer no further information about the incident, we wanted everyone to know that Pat is getting the help he needs and appreciates the love and support from Cannibal Corpse fans around the world. Pat is currently with family and friends and looks forward to a healthy return at some point. For anyone wondering, all Cannibal Corpse touring will happen as planned and all shows will be played."
Original news, published on 18.12.2018: After Cannibal Corpse guitarist Pat O'Brien was arrested for burglary and assault on the same night his house burned down, the veteran death metal musician has now been released from jail on Friday night (December 14th) after posting $50,000 bond. The band has yet to make a statement so far.
However, a few days after the arrest, Cannibal Corpse drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz's wife Deana started a crowdfunding campaign for O'Brien, stating, "Pat is a standup guy, true to his friends, family and his band. Also Pat does not have insurance, and lost everything that he owns."
Details of his charges: "On 12/10/18 at approximately 6:57 p.m., Patrick O'Brien entered 4732 Windflower Cr, to which he did not have permission from the owner/victim, nor did he know any residents at the above listed address. The residents ordered the defendant to exit the home immediately, at which point Patrick O'Brien pushed one of the residents to the ground against her will and fled into the backyard. When a deputy arrived, Patrick O'Brien would not obey his lawful commands and ran towards the deputy with a knife in his right hand. O'Brien was contained using a taser and was taken into custody. He is charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer with Deadly Weapon and Burglary Occupied Dwelling with Assault or Battery. The investigation is ongoing."
O'Brien appeared before a judge last Tuesday in an anti-suicide vest and shackles, where he was ordered held on bond pending a drug test. He could be facing further charges. As has been reported, one reason that the fire did as much damage is that firefighters had to reckon with an arsenal of explosive ammunition and military-grade flamethrowers within the guitarist's home.

LMAO 20.000? I really like this band as well but ANYONE who donates money to help someone who put the life of his neighbors and family in danger + attacked a cop with a knife is an ABSOLUTE GODDAMN MORON. There's really no logical excuse here! These metal fans should be raising money for the psychological support of his neighbors and the cop who might get PTSD from seing some crazy dude running at him with a knife, so everybody can see that the metal community isn't necessarily violent. The neighbors and the cop are the actual victims here!!! Pat can pay his own fucking bail.

You actually don't know anything about the man on that night except what's written down in the police report yet you cast your stones as if he had been out on a rampage with proven malicious intent. Doesn't the anti-suicide vest ring "mental breakdown" to you maybe? Losing everything you own might cause you lose your sh!t, especially when you have no insurance? He was also stockpiling ammo and kept 50 shotguns in the home he was renting. That sounds more like ongoing mental illness and a psychotic break than it does a sudden response to a tragic loss. If so, I hope he gets treatment. And given his lack of insurance, I'd guess that he won't get it unless the courts order it and pay for it.
