Power Trip - Members Comment On The Band's Future
After Power Trip frontman Riley Gale unexpectedly died last August at the age of 34, many questioned whether or not the band was finished or would carry on with a new singer. Recently, the members of Power Trip were given their first interview since Riley's death by Los Angeles Times, confirming that the band's future remains uncertain, but they do not rule out the possibility of continuing.
On the loss of Gale, drummer Chris Ulsh commented: "Losing Riley was the saddest thing that ever happened to me. But I'm so proud of everything we accomplished together. One of the coolest things from the start was that there was no ceiling to this band, and this Grammy nomination is a perfect example of that." He also went on to say, "It still feels very fresh. It's hard to talk about. We were close. I spent a lot of my downtime on tour with him. It's still hard to fathom."
As for the possibility of Power Trip continuing in Gale's honor, lead guitarist Blake Ibanez said: "We do want to continue to play music together; we just are not sure what that looks like at this time."
Formed in 2008, Power Trip have released only two full-length albums, Manifest Decimation (2013) and Nightmare Logic (2017), and the band had been working on album number three just before Riley's passing. Despite their uncertain future, Power Trip are still on the bill for a European tour later this year with Lamb Of God and Kreator.
