The Skull - Eric Wagner Dead At 62
One of the most iconic figures in doom metal, vocalist Eric Wagner, has died at the age of 62. It was reported late last week that Wagner, who contracted Covid-19 while on a co-headlining tour with The Skull and fellow landmark outfit The Obsessed, had entered the hospital with pneumonia and that remaining live dates including a slated appearance at Psycho Las Vegas were cancelled. His son, Luke, has confirmed his death on social media.
Eric Wagner co-founded Trouble, considered one of the pioneers of doom metal, in 1979. He left the band in 1997, only to rejoin the outfit in 2000 and part ways again in 2008. In 2012, Eric formed The Skull with former Trouble bassist Ron Holzner.
The Skull posted on Facebook: "We all are devastated and in shock. We lost a band mate, friend, and brother. We will make a statement once we get more info and come to terms with this."
Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and bandmates.
Rest in peace, Eric. Your voice will never be forgotten.
