British death doom metal ensemble The Drowning announced that their drummer Steve Hart is stepping down due to personal reasons. Steve was part of the band for almost 18 years.

Says the band of departure: ''Many misery laden returns of the new year to all you lovers of all thing's death and doom. Whilst the rain lashes outside for an eternity we have some sad news to go with the weather. Unfortunately, we have to announce that Steve Hart (drums) has elected to retire his twin sticks of doom and death and is departing from The Drowning due to personal reasons. We are immensely proud of what we have accomplished with Steve and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

"But grief marches on inexorably and Doom waits for no man, we are currently in the end stages of recording our forthcoming album and will be searching for a new purveyor of thundering horror to drive The Drowning forward with us..."
