Lucifer's Fall - Announce Final Release And Future Projects

Australian doomers Lucifer's Fall have confirmed that their upcoming EP, titled Children Of The Night, will be their final release as a band. Their producer Max Duncan has uploaded a studio playthrough of one of their upcoming songs. The band is planning to release the EP on Bandcamp, primarily as download only.

The tracklist and runtimes as follows:

01. Children Of The Night (5.56)
02. Doom In The Grave (6.45)
03. Fight With The Beast (3.07)
04. Judgement Day (4.23)
05. Lucifer's Fall '22 (6.00)

Vocalist Phil Howlett (alias Deceiver) has on multiple occasions explained his personal discomfort in performing as a band in a live setting. Thus, he will leave the band after the release of their 2023 EP to pursue solo projects. Three other band members (Invocator, The Hammer, and Cursed Priestess) will start a new band.

The full statement from Howlett reads as follows:

"Thanks to everyone involved with the band over the years. It was great fun and we made lots of great music. We couldn't have done what we did without each other. All the people directly involved in the musical history of LF are fantastic but unfortunately that is not the only thing that keeps bands together. Eternal gratitude to Jess, Sean, Ben, Blake, Kran & Max. Oh, also thanks to Wayne Cesaro who drummed for us for a month or so. He was an almost member before we decided on Max. Cheers for not being pissed at us (or at least not showing it). I'm especially proud of what we achieved with III: From The Deep. Probably the greatest thing I'll ever be involved in. In one sense it was a difficult album. In coming up with and recording it we lost a drummer and that change set us back quite a bit. Then covid and an insanely delayed release time. In the end it was worth all the frustration but that period was very difficult for all of us. Personally that frustration and subsequent other music business frustrations probably made up my mind to exit the band at some point (Yes, It's my "fault").

"I'm eternally grateful to the people who have given their support, shown interest and helped us out over the years. Playing doom metal it is exceedingly difficult to gain any level of "success" so thanks again to everyone who helped out along the way to achieve what we did. Thanks to all the bands who worked with us on splits. You were all a pleasure to work with. Cheers, Cardinals Folly, Eldritch Rites, Reclvse, Acolytes Of Moros & Myopic Empire.

"Now to the future. Invocator, The Hammer & Cursed Priestess have started up a new band. You will probably see updates for that at some point on the Lucifer's Fall Facebook page. As for myself I have plenty going on. The Zlórtcht debut album (raw black, thrash, punk & doom Celtic Frost worshiping beast) will be out soon via the Witches Brew label. I'm am also working on the debut Caprahed album (doom, blues, alternative, prog, punk etc) which I expect will be out as a download mid 2023. Finally, soon I'll start recording the drums (guitars and some vocals already done) for the third Solemn Ceremony album tentatively titled Chapter III.

"Overall, at the moment I feel comfortable in heading back to my hermit like existence of creating solo bedroom recordings with a bit of help from others. Although I enjoy the band experience overall I've kinda had enough and prefer to return to my more natural state. This means it's very unlikely anyone will ever see me "grace" a stage again. I really just love to be able to churn out large amounts of music relatively quickly and being virtually solo makes this possible. For me the creation of music rather than performance is the greatest thrill. I'm also not bothered about achieving high quality recordings. I aim for clear and listenable, but still raw, with my out of date recording equipment. To be honest I've always preferred a rougher less produced sound in music. Anyone interested in me doing guest vocal spots hit me up. I can easily do it at home

"Once again thanks to everyone for past support and hopefully future support for both me and the other members of Lucifer's Fall in whatever we do in the future. Cheers!"
Phil."

I guess this time, it is final. It's ok, it is what it is, and there will be more music from everyone involved, so it is not all bad.

Yeah, it's sad. Nice to see that he also found III: From The Deep to be their crowning achievement. But like you say, it's good that they're still going to work on new music, albeit as separate entities. I'm looking forward to that Invocator/Hammer/CursedPriestess project — the instruments of Lucifer's Fall were always just as great as Phil's passionate vocals. I wonder if they'll aim to hire someone with a similar vocal style...
