i am not too much into Black Metal because i mainly dont like the music and i cant stand the growls and "rough" vocals...but Summoning is the exception i almost love...but listen to them every day for one month is slightly becoming boring and i need something new already...so are there any bands playing the same way - especially i am looking for great instrumental melodies and choirs in refrains ![]()

there are no other black metal bands who play the same type of black metal like Summoning unfortunally ![]() how ever Rivendell comes close. you can also check out Pazuzu(aut) a project of an ex-member of Summoning. it is cool ambient.

Drudkh may be a bit different but they are so good I don't think you would notice.

Kinstrife & Blood from Australia is heavily influenced by Summoning, both musically and lyrically. You should give them a try. Elffor from Spain is another band that is quite similar to Summoning. Their music has much emphasis on keyboards and is very epic in its nature. They also seem to be very much inspired by fantasy.

Oh man, Tolkien metal. I'm a big fan of Summoning, and I second the Rivendell recommendation. @ Damnated: I just picked up one of Marblebog's cd's. so far its pretty sick stuff.

I dont know why, but when I listen to the album ''Lugburz'', it reminds me the album Stormblast from Dimmu Borgir.

I'm surprised no-one here mentioned Caladan Brood! ![]() Definitely the most similar band to Summoning I've heard is Caladan Brood (someone on the shoutbox mentioned it a few days ago): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qApRHrMdang Amazing song if you ask me. And you can easily hear the influence Summoning had on the music.

Hmmm the first part of the song is very summonish... the first seconds actually sound like something done by Summoning ![]() Italian band L'Ordre Du Temple (only one album out) can also be reminiscent of Summoning....
