Well Lately I've been looking for some bands with awesome and beautiful female vocals I've been dealing with bands like Epica, Within Temptation, diablo Swing Orchestra, After Forever and (my favorite) Leave's Eyes...

So, I'm looking for voices lined towards Sara Brightman you know? angelic voices with a very sweet tone and style....please don't recommend stuff lined towards Diamanda Galas or that shemale Angela Gossow

STILL!!! If you have something alternative...(not metal)...stuff like The Sundays, Veruca Salt, The Birthday Massacre or whatever you want please recommend, I'm willing to try everything with a sweet melodious voice.

THANKS!

oh...and (to give something to this topic) I recommend all the bands I posted lol.

My personal favs (not metal) would have to be Dark Sanctuary, Dargaard, Autumn Tears, Artesia, Elend, Die Verbannten Kinder Evas.
Skumring, Chalice, Tacere, Atargatis, Avrigus, Draconian in the metal area.

The Gathering's (ex) Anneke van Giersbergen. The best female voice Ive ever heard. The end.

AND, I know she growls, and you said you dont want that, but she is also great in singing folk (clean of course) - Masha "Scream" from Russian band Arkona.

Angela Gossow, since it's almost technically impossible to go from a female voice to growls WHO ACTUALLY SOUND BRUTAL. truely impressive!

Both are great singers and good bands, though I wouldn't exactly call Masha's voice angelic....

My recomondation would be Autumn, a band from the Netherlands(female-fronted metal from the Netherlands? Never heard of that before, ey? ). But I promise you, it is not as boring as it may sound. The music is quite catchy and Nienke de Jong has a very nice, smooth voice. They have recently changed singer though, but the new singer is get to be heard on an album.

Oh, perhaps you should take a listen instead of listening to my words....

angelic voices

The Angelic Process.

You may hate it a 100%, and it's perhaps not what entirely you're looking for, but imo, she is one of the best female vocalists.. ever.

Check out "Weighing Souls With Sand".

@Stalker: Niether her growls or clean vocals are sweet or angelic IMO, but it doesn't mean it isn't awsome. She has more of a powerfull and mighty(somtimes rough)voice with alot of character instead.

@stalker oh yeah lol, well if that's the case i'll go with classic Tarja, Sharon del Adel is too mellow for me sometimes(though she sounds especially good in Ayreon's Day 11), but i also liked the one from Epica and the girl who sings in Ensiferum-Tears. who is she?

Dark Sanctuary are probably one of my favourite bands outside metal, but I still can't decide which singer sounds more angelic, Marquise Ermia (early works), or Dame Pandora. However, I'm glad you find it useful

I think it's Kaisa Saari.

at first it was a little hard to find Autumn but now I'm listening to their "My New Time" album and it's truly something unique...more lined to what I was actually looking for thanks a million

I'm having a really hard time searching for The Angelic Process

Though whilst finding it I came across "Nadja" a cool drone band with female vocals, something you guys might want to check

Yes, Nadja, is definitely a great band, although live they did disappoint me a bit.

Well, of course you know Fear of God - Within The Veil. But the vocals aren't really angelic at all there. But generally I am NOT a fan of women singing in metal cause the usually lack the power.
The River has a female vocalist as does Mourn and Serpentcult. But again not angelic and all of them lacking in power to complement the music IMO

Had you listened to Battle Of Mice? they're a "post-metal" band with a truly impressive and original vocalist, the same girl who sings in the sludge/noise band Made Out Of Babies... in the same style, I'm also a big fan of Jarboe, the album she made with Neurosis is simply amazing. Try also the post-metal/progressive band Giant Squid, the girl who sings can sound sweet and desperate, and the songwriting is awesome.

Well finally Marcel sent me their Myspace (yeah as simple as that)....I went ahead and started listening that song called "Million Year Summer"...

I must say I can see the appeal, but it's really...and I mean REALLY noisy for me and I'm still married with Agoraphobic Nosebleed so go figure...

Still I'm diggin more of their stuff, right when that song ended another one came up, it's called "Crippled Healing" from their 2006 album "Coma Waering" or something....is still very noisy, but I definately see myself downloading their albums soon enough lol.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, Nadja is great, but not as good as The Angelic Process. But Nadja's "Touched" is really, really great.

Thank you all!!

I'm now downloading The Gathering - Home hopefully it would be something good Still hearing Dark Sanctuary her voice is more o less what I'm looking for...so I can easily recommend this piece to mostly everyone into female voices...it's not metal though, only keyboards, atmospheres and a beautiful voice...

Still if someone has something similar to Leave's Eyes or so please keep me posted

But Pheromone is really good, especially song 3 & 4.

...

I'm glad you like Autumn. A true marvel of female fronted metal. However singer Nienke left the band a few months ago. I have yet to hear their new singer Marjan.

--

Kingfisher Sky are an unknown and worthwhile band from The Netherlands. I find them comparable to Within Temptation in concept, but they have created their own identity long since.

--

Elexorien's singer has one of the loveliest angelic voices I ever heard. You might want to try their "Dryads and Trolls" song at the end of their myspace list. Of course they are from The Netherlands.

--

Ex Libris are an unsigned, but talented band from The Netherlands. A little harder to digest. saw them live a couple days ago. What a voice. Try "Love is thy sin" The CD is still in the making though.

--

Silentivm from Finland have a wonderful singer, Riina. I saw them live once and was blown away. Try their Hangman's Lullaby for a start.

--

Delain provide some easy listening. Talented band from The Netherlands with a sweet singer.

--

Finally a true classic. Vicious Crusade from Belorussia. Over the years they changed their female singers a couple times. They are an outstanding folk inspired heavy metal band and some of their mp3s are available here. The female singer they had for their Forbidden Tunes shares singing duties with a male voice, but in my personal opinion can hold her own with the very best (Nienke/Floor/Tarja).

Sorry for stating the obvious, but have you delved into the earlier stuff of Tristania ? World Of Glass and earlier. Timeless gems.

--

Visions Of Atlantis used to have a couple of technically decent singers. However their last one forsook them a bit unexpectedly. They have a few great cheesy blockbusters in their repertoire.

--

Trail Of Tears made two Cds with wonderful operatic vocals done by Helena Iren Michaelsen. These are named "Disclosure In Red" and "Profoundemonium". Especially the latter is marvellous and still fairly heavy.

Yes I've been listening to Tristania for a while, I had Widows Weed on my CD collection but I sold it it could have been a good listen in this "women in metal" day

Trail Of Tears sounds heavy, I'm looking for their stuff right now
