I've recently found a liking for Agalloch, and I looked for similarities but I found nothing. I know Agalloch are one of a kind, but I request bands that: ...Created Emotional Atmospheres. ...Sound Melancholic. ...Good Production. ...NON CHEESY. ...Preferably non satanic, but if an album holds a satanic track or two, I can delete them. ...Vocals aren't a very big problem, they can be clean or anything. Notice I put this in the General Forum because the recommendations may range from melodic power to atmospheric black. Thanks in advance for anyone who helps. List me as many bands as you can.

I have two special and quite unknown tips for you: First and best is a new band called Acedia, they come from Turkey, released an EP called Whisper Rains so far (which runs over 50 mins) and play some atmospheric doom metal with progressive elements, the whole concept is based around melancholy. They are not on MS yet, here a very good example: The female voice is but only in this song, and other songs are more doom. Another good band is Sinamore, they play Gothic Metal, but not that atmospherical as you which maybe. Best well known may be Empyrium, the inspiration to Acedia!

I would go with Alcest, Wolves in The Throne Room, Les Discrets and Amesoeurs... Amazing atmospheres and Wolves kinda close to Agalloch style, not really but still... as for Saturnus, they arent close to Agalloch, but has a really romantic and melancholic atmosphere...

I'd like to add: October Falls Empyrium Ulver (early stuff: Bergtatt & Kveldssanger) Dornenreich Gallowbraid is probably the band which has the most similarities to Agalloch. And maybe you want to check out the "Whom the Moon a Nightsong Sings" sampler, great acoustic stuff.

Anyone who likes Agalloch should definately check out a band called The Morningside. Their first album "The Wind, The Trees and The Shadows of the Past" is very much in the vein of Agalloch and early Katatonia. Here's the song "The Trees", hope ya enjoy

Look no further than Ulver's first album Bergtatt from 1994, surely one of their influences.
