The only track I found even momentarily pleasing was the final one. Maybe because it signified the torture was finally coming to an end.
Bitchin' cover though.

I might review the debut for fun to be honest. Won't be frontpage material, but it'll still be awesome.

I didn't have a creative block like this one in a loooong while, so the review might take some time to write... :/

Meh, take your time. I know how it feels to run out of steam and describing a band like Arizmenda isn't an easy thing to do.
Well, it'd be easier for me to say why I like the debut as opposed to why I don't like this one. I can't seem to put my finger on it, aside from the "eerie vibe" thing.

I think this record doesn't have the three-dimensional sense of depth that the debut has. Everything is very foregrounded so it often sounds like a regular raw black metal album without the glorious overlapping, intermingling guitars that's present on the debut. I definitely don't like this in the way I do the debut. It's too rough around the edges and poorly mixed, but I think there's probably much to get from it given some effort (which to be honest I haven't done).
There's no doubt it's a very different record.

That's a much better explanation than I could have ever hoped to give.

Skipping back and forth between album songs really does reveal a lot about the differences. New one has more of an improv feel.

It's not as good as the debut but I can certainly handle it. It's not an Omen Ex Simulacra clusterfuck

duno. I really hated the fact that I was eagerly waiting for the end of this record, and skipped the final parts of a two tracks because it was damn boring.
Also, I'm not sure if the songwriting it self is very good, regardless of the production.

The boned I got after checking their debut got ruined :'(
Thankfully the new album sounds like it's going to improve on this record a lot. Maybe not quite as nice as the debut's production but definitely a step up from this.

I already didn't go head over heels for the debut, you can imagine how hard it would be for me to finish it. Which I didn't.

Cool, I finally found the other version of this that was supposed to exist. The "remastered Dismal Cursings" version apparently. A lot less noisy and abrasive but as a result it sounds weirdly bassy. Whether not it's better I can't be sure. Some of the detail seems to have been lost. I'd probably say it's better as a result overall though.
(fucksake, had the EQ on Winamp turned on fsr so sounded extra bassy. Still quite bassy though). This is the superior version for sure.

I'd love one (or both) of those shirts but the shipping costs are about the same as the price of the fucking shirt. I'll wait for them to maybe one day come to Europe, hopefully.

Just re-listened to this today and the first two songs are kinda ok but then it gets really muddy and muddled in all that thick bass. Would've been atleast a decent release if it wasn't for those. Sounds not so Arizmenda-ish for the bulk of it then.
Anyway, the cassette version of this album is epic and the artwork is beyond rad. Just can't stop looking at it. Even the clown-like thing in the inner sleeve is beyond words.

Relistened to this today and I used to agree what has been said in this thread. I changed my mind a bit - this demands a bit more from the listener than the debut and Stillbirth, but now I do think that this is as good as those. Its more demented and and lacks some of those wow riffs that the other albums has but just the originality of the style here and the effort to put this lunacy on tape makes it an interesting album. I get the feeling that side a and side b are recording from different times as there is big change in style. Side a is more demented and b is slkightly more energetic. That change in style is the biggest negative on this album imo.
I dont know how they did it but it sounds like they recorded the inner life of some mental patient inside an institution.
