This album was spectacular.

Interesting. I've only heard the first track but this certainly sounds like something that's up my alley.

I kinda felt that on the first song and never really got past it. I really like Thou so I'll give it another go tomorrow.

tbh, I was not even able to finish the whole record. I am relatively easy to appease, so there must be something really wrong with this record.

That's exactly how I felt. I've seen a few people completely obsess over this album and I simply don't understand why.

Well crafted and at times really crushing, but it's just too damn long.

That's exactly how I felt. I've seen a few people completely obsess over this album and I simply don't understand why.

Only listened to it once but from what I recall a solid 7 (if we're talking with commas I'd go for 7,3-7,5) would be from me. It's good but nothing more to it. Just like you I don't see why people would go so apeshit over it. I did give the staff pick a thumbs up though. On the other hand, I have no idea why someone into this kind of metal would be so offended by it. D:

It's quite heavy. The oft and on female vox adds a nice touch. Alos, their is more melody in this than people realize.

Musically not bad at all and actually a rather interesting album, but boring nonetheless. And way too long with its nearly 75 minutes. I had trouble finishing the whole album.

I also don't see why people are so obsessed with this album.

Bloated and uninteresting. It's crushing, sure, but it does little to engage the listener. Mindlessly heavy without much direction, or at least that's my opinion after my unsuccessful attempts. Maybe towards the end it improves, but based on what I'm reading in this thread it doesn't appear to be the case. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything here by giving up and calling it a day.
