Arckanum is a bm band from Mora, Sweden.
The band is formed in 1993 and consists of only Shamaatae as sole member
Arckanum performs raw, primitive black metal
Few bands are as committed to their subject matter as Arckanum,
whose interest in the pagan 'old ways' of their Viking ancestors and
open worship of the God Pan transcend mere curiosity towards sheer obsession.

I had listened to Fran Marder and yes, is an interesting album that mixes raw black metal with folk... they (or he) abuse of ambient sound but yes, they're good and I loved the vocals.

Arckanum really shot into the UG spotlight this year. I envy anyone who made the smart decision to sell any of the first three albums for $100 usd each and then buy the re-releases for 15 bucks.

I haven't heard them, and as much as I'd like to get any of the first three albums I don't think I'll ever be able to.

I heard Arckanum is re-releasing some there old albums. Should be cool.

Kostogher is my favourite album by far. Fran Marder is great, the Boka Vm Kaos is great and the split with saratos grief is phenomenal.

I would imagine this thread to be more active.

Did anybody actually listen to Antikosmos? It was a good album as well. In my opinion Arckanum is one of those bands that never disappoints. Everything he releases is catchy and unique and creative in it's own way.

Arckanum is one of the better bands that we Swedes can brag about. This band is damn good, and the only release that's a bit questionable in terms of being awesome is Kostogher (due to the production mostly). Fran Marder is a masterpiece, and Kampen is close to being one. The new Antikosmos isn't as good as the Boka Vm Kaos EP was suggesting it was going to be (Baphomet is a fucking awesome song), but it's still one of the best '08 releases I've heard. Arckanum is one of the big hopes I have for futere Swedish BM releases, and Shamaatae also seems like a really intriguing individual.

Arckanum is some of the best shit out there, and now that the discography has been reissued you can actually get ahold of the albums.

The demo's almost rival the likes of Azhubham Haani.

Great swedish black metal. I'd have to say france and sweden have the BEST black metal bands out today.

Yup. To me it's the perfect follow-up to Antikosmos.

Highly recommended.

I have finally listened to all his full-lengths and I think my favorite is Kosthoger, Fran Marder is not far behind though. I was disappointed by Antikosmos, some good tracks, but overall the album seemed pretty much average to me, I can't listen to it without skipping some tracks. ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ, while being not as strong as his three first albums, is indeed a great comeback and an excellent record. But I miss the production of the first releases.

As far as I've understood that's correct. He is also a worshipper of Pan and not of the Æsir or Vanir. He's released a bok about Chaos Gnosticism and Pan under his pseudonym Vexior http://www.vexior.se/panparadox.html "Anti-cosmic, Chaos-gnostic and Satanic philosophy and mysticism around the misrepresented contemptuous god and black magical Chaos-philosophy. Includes Satanic illustrations and rituals." I haven't read it though, because it costs 400 EUR, and is limited to 50 copies...

For em the best Arckanum tracks are still on the split with Svartsyn. But I enjoy all of Arckanum's stuff immensely/

+1 anything Arckanum. Seriously - I don't think I've disliked a single release, EP/demo/split/whatever. It's all good shit.

Dunno, their last couple were pretty average for them I think. Especially after the silly named one.
