The track they play live is mediocre. Let's hope the album is much better.

I still have some hope, as I kind of like Steve Tucker..

Nothing will ever compare to Altars Of Madness, though, which is pretty much the greatest death metal album of all time imo.

They have 3 truly excellent albums (in my order of awesomeness):
1. Covenant
2. Altars of Madness
3. Blessed Are The Sick

Covenant was the first one I heard, and I loved a couple of tracks, but for me personally it doesn't come close to Altars or Blessed

I put these albums in the same order, as well. Just those three albums make me a permanent Morbid Angel fan, no matter how shitty their newer albums may or may not be.

And yeah, the track they have on spotify sounds a little more like Formulas Fatal to the Flesh, which is okay, but it's not doing a lot for me. Like LeKiwi said, it seems Morbid Angel will never achieve the greatness of their past ever again.

Decent artwork tho

Boring indeed. Then again the Steve Tucker period wasn't that good in the past either. But can't blame the guy. The death metal formula has been so overplayed that it became dry. How can you reinvent death metal while restraining yourself within the limits of the genre? You can't.

I have a soft spot for the groovyness of Damnation (see "Dawn Of The Angry" which was my first MA song)... But yeah. I'm more than ok with your order haha. Although it does tend to switch around during the years.

I'm starting to think Trey is the problem and not David or any of the other guys. This sounds like it will be another disappointing record.

But he IS Morbid Angel. It's either him at the helm, or no band at all.

Morbid Angel with Tucker is so boring. Trey should have stuck with Vincent and go the industrial route, improving on Illud, instead of coming back to this indistinct, uninspired stuff.

Improve on Radikult? Might as well disband and start growing cabbage.

A cheap, terrible knock-off of Marilyn Manson was original? Even inverted commas don't justify using that word.

You are right in that it's not original music overall, it is just a Marilyn Manson rip-off, I mean it was original for a death metal band to switch styles so quickly. I think if they had progressed into it over multiple albums it wouldn't have been that bad.

Just a few names here: Ulver, Darkthrone, Paradise Lost, Anathema. Bands change styles all the ime.

Yeah, but those bands aren't as good as they used to be. I still think they could be better if they changed more slowly.

Darkthrone and Ulver are decent, though.

All those bands kick the shit out of the atrocity that Morbid Angel did with Illud. The comparison is not even funny hahaha.

I'm more a black metal fan than a death metal one... And a bigger doom metal fan than a black metal one. So to me the choice is obvious

I am more a black metal fan than a death metal one, and a bigger doom metal fan than a black metal one, yet I still prefer Altars Of Madness to most of those band's entire discographys.
