Even this album was leaked few months ago, I wait to end. Ok if you gonna buy it and its leaked 3 days before why not, but no not so early. Same time if Black metal promotion, Dezibel Magazine or label youtube channel puts album out before its time. Yes.
Anyway back to album. The Death Of Gaia was totally lame, artwork, song tittle. This is something close Mors Viri a bit weaker, and a bit stronger. at same time cant decide. I am happy whit this one, good one. But to weak to get in top doom list in end of the year. Seems Pim drives band as metalhead not only metal singer, thats why it works so well.

Anna's Woe and Angels With Broken Wings \m/

Just another brilliant emotive, melancholic death doom album, nothing out of the ordinary for this genre just simple but masterful songwriting and an exceptional, moving performance. "Angels With Broken Wings" is just a beautifully written song, not heard a better one in this genre since "I Long" by Saturnus!

I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be!

This is fantastic.

It took me a while to absorb the depth of new OT album as it demands attention. Well, Hortus Venenum sounds similar to Mors Viri. It has more mature and refined sound continuing the death-doom aesthetic, it feels more polished and layered in terms of composition. It's more accessible and beautifully retains the band’s trademark sorrowful mood but is less brutal. While Mors Viri is darker, heavier, and more emotionally raw while leans on heavy emotional themes of loss and tragedy. It curates more immersive atmosphere.

Just my takeaway from 3 sittings on OT's Hortus Venenum.

Still a fucking awesome album. One of the strongest release in its genre.

Pleasant listen, but that's about it. Funny note that Pim Blankenstein's growls seem to resemble those of Jukka Pelkonen from Omnium Gatherum

Just listened to the first 2 tracks and damnnn ....its class.

Everything was great for two to three spins but then found few tracks to be generic and boring. After the first two tracks I wanted to rate a solid 8 but later git settled down with 7. Nevertheless a good album in that genre.

Slightly disappointing after the amazing The Death of Gaia. I wish they would have continued with that style/sound.

With this one they went a step back again, back to their old sound. As others pointed out, it sounds like Mors Viri. While I loved that album at first, I never really listen to it anymore.

Honestly, it feels like they ran out of ideas. I'm missing the creativity.

Edit: after more listens I realize I like it more than when I wrote this comment. Still not as good as The Death of Gaia, though. The closer track, Angels With Broken Wings, is just amazing. By far the best track on it.
