Their new singer dons the emo look pretty well...giid lord I pray his vocals don't match. Dan Thompkins tesseract material was a little too emo for me (though he cleaned up a bit IMO in Sky Harbor)
im skeptical, but I will be paying attention

While I still prefer Daniel's vocals by a small margin, Ashe does a great job here This is EXACTLY what I've been waiting for since their EP Concealing Fate....so relieved. Those grooves; those vocal melodies; those echoed clean guitar notes in the background - this is simply epic.

This really took me by surprise! I am very pleased with what I hear on this album and with a few more listens, I will probably love this even more.

Great album, this should lead to an interesting career for Tesseract.

Truth be told, I was really skeptical that this release can be any good judging by the amount of re-releases, remixes and re-recordings these guys made in the last few years. Boy, am I glad they proved me wrong with this huge surprise of an album.

Some really good moments on here, and surprisingly I really don't miss the harsh vox. A solid release.

This album is largely and clearly ambitious. Granted, it took me a few listens to fully take in what the band was actually doing in every song, but I'm glad that I came to a decision of praising it. Despite their constant links to however many other bands in the 'Djent-Metal' scene, I see this album as the one that will perhaps lead them out of that label and onto better and bigger things. Also, the saxophone parts on 'Calabi-Yau' and 'Embers' is absolutely beautiful.

The change of vocalist makes sa big difference. Not bad at all. Of Mind - Nocturne is really catchy. Djent to me never sounds too different though and seems kind of pigeonholed when its front and center... not too sure though.

Very good album ! This band is absolutely bringing their own touch for the prog music. Oh and the basist, if you hadn't seen him live it's a must. Probably the sickest basist to see on stage. Amazing album I give a 9

Would have given this album a 9... but then saxophone. I'm not digging this trend (Ihsahn, Behemoth, Leprous, Tesseract, Kenny G... all these bands can do without the Sax... it isn't 'avantgarde' its just intrusive; it's like going to a Jazz club and hearing the drummer playing 200BPM blast beats while the guitarist does harmonic minor sweep arpeggios all night.)

Dude, in total it's 5 minutes of sax on a 50 minute album, and it's not that present on the last track as it is on Calibi Yau. It's not that bad, your example is quite an exaggeration

Besides, that sax is the best part of the album. It absolutely glows on Calabi-Yau.
Well, I would have to say I definitely prefer this album over the debut now.

This is the first album of its kind that I listen to. What do you call this genre? Progressive?
Some people call it "Djent", but it's basically what this page says, progressive/math metal.

I thought Djent was the sound not the genre..

After listening to this for the past 2 months I have a concrete opinion that I think won't change on this album: Alright, this is a GREAT album.. seriously, listen to it now.Though I was kinda put off by the weird melodies at first (you can't headbang or follow the rhythm most of the time), over time I came to love this style of playing, I think this is called Math metal..
Anyways, moving on: I will fucking give this a 10/10 just because it's the best thing I've listened to the past 2 months. It's a very complex concept album and you need time to really get into it, especially if you are new to this genre as was I when I first grabbed this.
I'm putting this album along on my other save-no-matter-what-even-if-apocalypse albums.

Still worth a listen to this day, solid take on mixture of djent, clean melodic vocals and sizable atmospheric harmony.
