"Back In 79", eh? So this is another album by a washed up, has-been bunch of hacks trying to recapture their glory days, right? Wrong. Almost laughably so, in fact. Messrs. Byford et al are certainly looking lined these days, but to dismiss them as sounding their age would be foolish. Sure, the modern day version of Saxon continue to tread in their own well worn footsteps with Call To Arms, but that in no way diminishes the quality of music on show here.

Just finished listening to this, and I will definitely be getting it on Monday! None of the songs are bad, and several of the songs are great. "Hammer Of The Gods", "Afterburner", "Back In 79", and "Surviving Against The Odds" are just awesome old school metal tunes. And "Ballad Of The Working Man" (which isnt really a ballad! ) is a wonderful song. Its a great traditional metal album.

Probably the most reliable band I know, Saxon rarely fail to put out a decent album. This one's no exception, some great tracks here.

The word gen means "illusion" or "apparition." In India, a man who uses conjury is called a genjutsushi ["a master of illusion technique"]. Everything in this world is but a marionette show. Thus we use the word gen.

Solid effort, once again. Saxon is not the band that's known for any straight out masterpiece records but pretty much all of their albums showcases a band that does know how to write a entertaining record. This one is not among my favourites by them but it's still worthwhile. Not any real stand out tracks here except for maybe Mists of Avalon.

Call to Arms is once again a great album from the masters. I remember a friend telling me this was a lesser album in their catalog, but I don't see anything particularly wrong here. Maybe it's the production, they tried to sound more live here, so I presume that's off-putting for some.

You've got a lot of guts. Let's see what they look like!
