I think niles song and lyric content are testament to how much thought and talent goes into death metal

Word! Brutal, creative pros who give everything to the fans - what more can a death woman/man want?

he may want more consistency and to stop creating stupid "long" songs as "4th ara dagon" but only masterpiece songs as "the eye of ra", "permiting the noble....", "execration test", "wind of horus" etc... thats all the usual DM fan would want i think...

Death metal in general, contains a lot more talent than a lot of people think. But thats just people who are ignorant of the genre who think it has no talent. Nile are a great band, with genuine talent, and are also unique, which is very much a rarity in today's musical climate. I still think their first album is their best though. xD

We should expect a new album from Nile since the situation is fucked in Egypt, it's time to modern lyrics.

Nevermind Nile. I'm just waiting for Southpark to make an episode about this.

Couldnt agree more .... I've lost count of the amount of times I've argued with friends and family members that death metal is not noise. Ive asked them to take the time to listen to the individual instruments and how they are played so they can properly appreciate it. And the best reply they can come up with is basically "it isnt what I like so it sucks" I wish more people would give death metal its due rather than dismissing it and saying it is a noisy no talent genre..... Which it clearly isnt, Sorry rant over.

The "it isnt what I like, so it sucks" attitude is one that most people have, unfortunately. A small amount of people (me included) can acknowledge talent, even if the band/music isn't to their own particular tastes. Most people cant do this though. lol

IMO nile is unbelievably unique as far as the death metal scene is concerned... unrelenting monster riffs that seems to even eschew their ultra-furious blast beats and to top it all with the best songwriting in the entire DM genre......

I've listened to Karl sanders's solo side project, its just Oriental\Arabic tones and some acoustic guitar, my favorite song: "A Most Effective Excorcism Aga"

"A Most Effective Excorcism Aga"

Lol. The song is actually called "A Most Effective Exorcism Against Azagthoth and His Emissaries". But yeah Karl Sanders' solo work is great. I prefer the debut for its darker and smoother atmosphere (over the crazier, sharper approach of the second album). I like how he recycles ideas used in Nile's music and composes them into a different musical context on his solo releases. The song "A Most Effective Exorcism Against Azagthoth and His Emissaries" for example is partially derived from the Nile song "Sss Haa Set Yoth".

Have there been any news about a follow up album to "Those Whom The Gods Detest"?
Not that I've grown the least tired of the existing albums, but I would be super excited about more from Nile.

Try either "Annihilation of the Wicked" or "Those Whom The Gods Detest".

I agree. Those two albums make a great job of revealing the quality in the music on the first listen. But they are also able to last and unfold on repeated play. Their earlier album In Their Darkened Shrines is a master piece in my book. But it's harder to appreciate right away, partially due to the lesser production value compared to Those Whom The Gods Detest.

Yeah, "In Their Darkened Shrines" is a great fuckin album, but you can't recommend it to anyone , "Black Seeds Of Vengeance" is also great I love it. For me "Festivals Of Atonement", their first EP, got me into Nile.

Haven't heard Festivals of Atonement, but that has to be on my to-do-list.
I do like that In Their Darkened Shrines is the kind of album that you have to discover yourself, when you are ready to appreciate it. I wouldn't recommend it either.
Black Seeds of Vengeance is awesome but also very different from the other stuff. There's not quite as much death metal in it. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's really dark and doomy.

I rarely see Ithyphallic mentioned. I can't quite decide for myself how I feel about it. There are some very good songs (As He Creates, So He Destroys, Papyrus Containing The Spell To Preserve It's Posessor Against Attacks From He Who Is In The Water - is that the coolest song title or what? And of couse, Eat of The Dead), but also quite a few songs that I can't remember, because they just haven't caught on.

Yeah, "Ithyphallic" has some amazing songs, It's not a bad album, it's not bad at all, but the thing is when people compare it with "Annihilation Of The Wicked" it looks weak. I think if Nile did released "Ithyphallic" before "Annihilation Of The Wicked", people would've appreciated it more, or I just love to think that way

When you have the chance to listen to "Festivals Of Atonement" start with "Wrought" it's a classic death song. I will never ever get bored of it.

I've had Annihilation of the Wicked for ages, and loved a few songs off it for a few years, but over the last year i have acquired all their albums and i love the band. I think the first album is probably my favourite, then In Their Darkest Shrines.
