Question: Kirk Hammett played on the latest K'Naan album and I wanted to add that to his profile, but I am not sure how to. Could someone please help me out?

Btw, do spoken word parts count as vocals or as something else? And could orchestras be put as guest/session musicians (eg. London Philharmonic Orchestra as a guest or session musicion on Nightwish's last 3 albums)?

Just replace "vocals" with "spoken word" for narrators.

As for the orchestra scenario, I'd just add them in the album section as a featured artist (as in Song Title [feat. X Orchestra]).*

* or add them in the additional info if they're featured on every song

Alright, thanks.

Do FX count as an instrument (ie someone is credited with "FX" in the album notes)?

Not really. That's kind of like listing producers and engineers as members.

Could a lineup change I made a while ago get changed? 2 guys as session mucicians for Windir need their names fixed. Both last names are Aroy, but the A should have a little circle above it and I can't do it with my keyboard. I ment to ask a while go.
Do European keyboards have keys for umlouts and the Os with lines through them and stuff?

Ya I find the copy/paste method easiest. Whenever I have to use that kind of A I look up musicians like Akerfeldt and Tagtgren.

I may have asked this before, but I can't remember. If a musician playsone or more out of keyboards, piano and synths, not necessarally on the same album, do they get all that they played credited to them, or just one?
Example: Mustis played, depending on which album you look at, piano, keyboard, synthesizer or any combination of them. He is only credeted here as keyboards. Should he have all 3 on his profile or is it fine the way it is?
(Most keyboard players would fall under the same question)
ALso, would/should conductors or anyone credited with "orchestration" be included on here?

Keyboards, pianos, synthesizers...

Conductors can be listed in the album's additional info but not included as a member of the band on the main page. And considering that keyboards, piano and synthesizers are all completely different instruments they should be added separately.

So I should go through Mustis, Holopainen, London, Westerholt, etc. to see who plays multiple ones?

Most of the guests on Ayreon's 01011001 album are listed as 2007 when the album is from 2008 (presumably it was recorded in 07). Should they be changed to include 2008?

No. Guest usually do their thing in a couple days. And the year is when they did their thing (many times during the recording year).

I would say yes. I know they may have actually recorded in '07, but adding them in '08 lines them up with the album properly.

Can I get a definate answer? Cause I'm also wondering about Virgin Black's drummer being a member untill 06 but having played on the 07 and 08 albums, both recorded in 06, making it appear someone else drummed on them.

Meh, it's not my area to set definitive guidelines anymore. Our former featured bands chief might be able to help you out though. Promonex. Send him a PM.

Well I don't know about a definite answer on the other thing but for this you would list the drummer as being a member til 06 and then put him in as a session musician for the years 2007 and 2008.

If a band (like Therion or Epica) uses half a dozen or more orchestra-style musicians on the album, who are not part of a larger orchestra and play on every song, should they be added? (looking at the mini orchestra on The Phantom Agony)

If a ,usician is listed as a guest here, but the album booklet has them with the rest of the band, implying they're part of the band (although a guest on an earlier album), should they be changed to a member here for the album/s they were implied to be a member on?

No. Maybe Session musician but not a full member. Example: (If I remember correctly) Seth is listed in the booklets with the others of Behemoth but he is not considered a member of the band by the band...

I don't have the booklet for that album, could you elaborate a little more please? Is it a guest musician (if so, who?) or did Tom or Martin do them?

Tom and Martin are credited on several songs with sound effects. Priestly (the session drummer) is also on 1 song.

If they only did SFX on this album then no, but if they did SFX on multiple or all albums then yes I would add that to the main page as an instrument. If only one or 2 albums I would go edit the album(s) and just include that in their instruments in the Line-up (optional) field.

There's some on To Mega Therion as well, but not on Emperor's Return, so I'll probably leave it off for now, unless I find more sometime.

Is there some sort of a timer in the (login) session mode? I didn't close browser or this site. I was just doing some food and returned to write a long post, which was vanished because suddenly my session was over and MS suggested me to log in.

Not to my knowledge. My connection lasts for days at a time, even when closing my laptop to go to sleep at night...

Was just wondering why the session method 'kicked' me out even though I never left the site, was just idling. I guess the session method ain't for idling.

Have no clue about this, would need to ask Ivan this question to know for sure.
