I feel like I'd need a lot more time to dissect all the intricacies of this album.

Wow... just wow - At least that's saying for the first couple of songs and a bit later on. Eerie atmosphere aside from the cheesy, suspenseful ambience in the first track. Mechanical-like dissonance and structure but less disorder as the album went on. There're times I prefer this over Ulcerate's Stare Into Death And Be Still but too many times it found itself in lukewarm territory. Consistency over absurd highs.

For me Ulcerate's latest is head & shoulders above this but I found it a lot more listenable than the Imperial Triumphant album, which to my ears it has more in common with.

These are 2 of the 3 bands that came to mind listening to this for me as well. Deathspell Omega was the 3rd. This takes the the riffing style of DsO (which is so overdone at this point that my eyes roll the second I hear it), the insanely mechanical feel of Ulcerate and the "its not a garbled mess, its JAZZ" ethos of Imperial Triumphant, mixes it together and comes out less than the sum of its parts.

Boring Ulcerate clone.

So a boring rip off of a rip off since, let's be honest here, every modern tech death band that does these kind of quirky avant-garde style albums is just copying Gorguts.

eh, that tells me you didn't listen to either of those bands too closely.
Ad Nauseam sounds more like Imperial Triumphant than Ulcerate

It strikes me you dislike most bands which are technical, abstract or dissonant. Perhaps these sub genres just aren't for you.

I like technicality, if it's done right; but dissonant death ? Yeah I don't like that, but I'm open to trying it if someone suggest something I might like.

Well you don't like Archspire or First Fragment which are arguably the best two tech-death albums of this year. Perhaps you'd prefer something a bit more melodic? Have you tried Allegaeon?

I'm not a fan of many disso-death bands either tbh. I really liked the latest Ulcerate, possibly because it's a bit more accessible than their early albums. I hated Imperial Triumphant. I couldn't get to grips with them at all but I don't like jazzy, free form influences in my music so that's not really a surprise.

I liked the Abyssal album from a few years ago - that's really dark, muddy and atmospheric.

Yeah well Archspire was really the definition of wank, so didn't like that at all; First Fragment on the other hand, I liked the first half a lot so I wanted to give it an 8, but in the second half it got kinda stale and samey to me, so I gave it a seven.
Yeah I'd like melody in death, but not an overuse of it. Haven't heard Allegaeon though, will do, thanks.
I don't really remember much about the latest Ulcerate, need to revisit it. Imperial Triumphant wasn't bad, I liked some of it.
Guess I should check out Abyssal too, thanks again.

Usually I am not a huge fan of dissodeath but something in this album made me notice what they were doing from whatever I was doing more times than I figured I would've. The first two songs really clicked with me. I also highly appreciate the effort that goes into making an album like this.
