I don't understand how can someone like this
I don't understand how can someone think this is the worst album ever recorded.
I ttoally am NOT a prog fan but this is a totally awesome prog album. A true classic.

Look at his album votes and I think you'll see why. He clearly isn't very good at using the rating system.
Seriously this is one of those albums that just never gets old. Fucking brilliant album

The first and last tracks are quite enjoyable, but everything in between is horrid.
Really? Very rarely do you see prog fans that don't like this album.

I trick myself into enjoying this I was a bit dramatic, however - "Epitaph" is actually quite a decent song.
That being said, "I Talk To The Wind" is uneventful instrumentally and the vocals are lifeless. Also, what the hell is going on for most of "Moonchild"? How can anyone find that mildly stimulating?
None of this is directed at you, just trying to explain my reasoning for anyone curious.
Edit: changed my rating to a 7 - my initial rating was a visceral reaction :-/

I can sort of understand Moonchild towards the end... but "I Talk to the Wind" and "Epitaph" are bangers.
You explained your reasoning sufficiently enough, and I'm glad you reconsidered your '5'.

Not an album I've actively avoided, just never seemed to come up at the right time. It's now been brought heavily into my purview so its days of anonymity are numbered.

I'll probably end up giving this an 8 when I get over my disappointment - my expectations were slightly inflated given that this is one of the most highly-praised prog albums of all time

^ not only one of the most highly praised prog albums, but many also argue that this is the 1st incarnation of prog rock. I can only say that it must had been very daring to record this back then.
Also, voting up it, given how much I like it, how many times I've heard it and the impact it have had on my musical taste.

A true classic.
Kids these days they don't have taste for classics. Seriously, I think someone must be totally without good taste for good music if this album can't interest him/her.

All the emotions that are present on this album, all but joy is to be found here.
Call me weak, but I still sometimes shed a tear listening to this album. There has yet to be a better album created. Listening to this from front to back is an experience, and I can't recommend it enough.

This album is simply genius, and a timeless masterpiece!
To think this was released in 1969 is unbelievable, it was well ahead of it's time, especially the song 21st Century Schizoid Man, which was and still is a Rock classic.
These were three extremely talented musicians, that could use multiple instruments, such as keyboard synthesisers, wind instruments, and both electric and acoustic guitars, and could craft together mind blowing music in a completely unique style, unlike anything done before, this style was what was to become known as progressive rock, which would have a huge influence on so many future bands, aswel as many of my favourite progressive legends such as Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and Yes.
I admit at times it does drag a little and get a little but dull in parts, but like many Progressive Rock masterpieces, it's not about individual songs, the whole album is an epic journey.
