Eyes of Darkness - Esoteric

At 16:52 this is Esoteric's first real epic length song. For a band that are now renowned for there prolonged and somewhat tortured desents into a Homeric length Tartarus piece, the band started out with the experimental Emotions album that features songs at a mediocre 7-8min long. Its not my favourite song of theres, but it's the virginity of there masterfully paced music as it unfolds rhyhtms and distant harmonies while maintaining impossibly slow speeds and repeating riffs and patterns in slowly evolving puddles of tortured sound. For those metal heads who would prefere not to step into there schizo-psychedelic thunderously downtuned/feed-back fugged hell, then the opening Guitar solo that grazes the first 2 minutes (as oppossed to there later formula of leaving the high-pitched guitar soloin' to the end of the track) should send a few heads boobing and a few fake guitars plucking.

Agalloch - In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion (Amazing!).
Lacrimosa - Die Strasse der Zeit (It's all about classical music and Wolff's voice).

Does album counts? Darkestrah album 'Epos' contain only one song which last for 33 minutes, and it is great, it is some kind of Pagan Black Metal, it is really great.
Another cool things about this band are that vocal is fe-male but she screams like cow before the slaughtering, they are from Kyrgyzstan, yes I wrote it corectly, and yes, they know what is metal, their all albums are released for No Colours records.

Hmm, there are quite a few actually but can only remember a few for now.. Difficult to actually pick just one track cause different tracks struck me as quite unique during the flow of the album and they were special for different reasons as well..

Burzum - Det Som Engang Var
Awesome riffs, drawn-out atmosphere, quick bits, melodic slow bits and hypnotic, repetitive atmospheric Black Metal. This song sets the tone for the album and is notably one of Burzum's finest tracks ever. Vikernes' vocals are as harsh and unrelenting as on previous Burzum releases but they are this time the accompaniment to music which portrays a far deeper and more intense environment. The extensive, although never overly dominant, utilisation of keyboards throughout the album to create a more chilling atmosphere than on previous releases.

Burzum - Tomhet
The rest of the album really sets you up for this one which is the longest song which is saying a lot since all the songs in this album are long and drawn out. Personally speaking, I think this is the song that Hvis Lyset Tar Oss is mainly about. If the light takes us anywhere it would be the place that this song takes you to. Its very hypnotic, peaceful and trance-like which has some kind of underlying current which makes it suicidal and deadly despite its slow meandering repetitive tune. Despite the fact that it is ambient and the slowest track on the album, it still appears to be the most evil for some reason.

Bathory - One Rode to the Asa Bay
I generally try and stick to Black Metal tracks as much as I can but there are some which are notable like this one which is a very good song and really made Hammerheart an awesome listen. I seriously doubt whether Hammerheart would have got the fame it deserves if it wasn't for this track. This track is much slower and sweeter than the rest of the album and the composing is absolutely in a class of its own. The lyrics are almost story-like and its, simply put, a work of art.

Graveland - Tyrants of Cruelty
This is the second track off the album Creed of Iron. The first track is an intro which simply sets you up for this track. It takes you by surprise with its battle-like epic atmosphere which is quite Viking in nature. It is quite heavy and intense yet very flowing which sets the tone for the rest of the album.

Graveland - Sons of Fire and Steel
This ones around 23 minutes but it's definitely worth the listen. This track has it all with bursting speed, harps, slower melodies, harsh vocals, distorted guitars, clean guitars, choirs singing, swords clanking, a narrative bit and even a few horns sounding here and there. Amazing track off the album Immortal Pride.

Wolves in the Throne Room - (A Shimmering Radiance) Diadem of 12 Stars
This last track on the album is 20 minutes long. Despite its length, its quite fast paced and exhilarating track which slows down for patches of melody between the violent turbulance caused by the distorted guitars and killer drums. The two vocalists complement themselves in this track. This is the title track and its an extremely good album if you like long drawn out songs. The shortest song in this album is around 13 minutes or so.

Summoning - Dor Daedeloth
From the album Minas Morgul. The album won't exactly be a complete one if not for this song. It enhances the epic nature of the album and is pretty much one of the highlights. It's the last song on the album and the following bit of the lyrics may explain it better than I can; You have seen the journey of time, and let us, half mortal beings, take part of the truth and the solitude of mankind, forewer...

Blut Aus Nord - Procession Of The Dead Clowns
This is taken off the album Work Which Transforms God. This is the final track and falls just short of 10 minutes I think, but its one of those songs that gives a lasting impression on the album.. Despite its rather funny kind of name, it's ambient bassy nature is quite amazing. Despite the fact that its an instrumental, its quite haunting, cold and suicidal in nature..

Iron Maiden - Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Amazing song, also one rode to asa bay - bathory, opeth - to bid you farewell

Hehe, definetly not, it is small minded Black Metal song with double bit and thin guitars but I like it a lot, this guys play for ten years now and they don't have even demo, what idiots

Really, no demo huh? No releases at all is bad news cause I wont be able to get it. Really looking for underground bands all over these days..

No demo, nothing, I played guitar with them, haha, that is why it is along my favorite songs, no really they are real good, fucking black metal, no fake smiles. They kicked me out cause I wanted demo, album, big house, whores, money... Some of those guys are playing in more serious bands with releases and real tours and some of them have jobs and staff so they gather one in a mounth, practice a little and then burn in one show, after that they split for another mounth, maybe in the future when they realise Black Metal is much better then shits some of those guys plays.
P.S. They are really good, it is not only I played with them ask someone from Serbia here

I doubt there are others from Serbia here to ask and hopefully they see this thread lol. Anyway it almost sounds like they split up already or something..

Everything about the song is perfect, Mikael's vocals, the acoustic guitars, the heavy guitars, also I heard there is a sigh in the song, and nobody know how it came to be there. None of the band members sighed while recording, so I wonder what it was...)

This isnt just a song...its a 14 minute epic journey through clouds of emotion and feeling with some fantastic musicianship and twists and turns. VERY highly recommended for any lovers of epic power metal (since i know few people know Lost Horizon or give them enough credit)

Rundgang Um Die Transzendentale Saule Der Singularitat is another really good 10+ minute song. It may sound repetitive to most people, but I think that the song is pure genius. It creates a really cool atmosphere and it is, in my opinion, the best 'sleeping' song ever.

what a fucking title!!!! im german but im actually not understanding what this means its "a tour through the.." whaaat??? dont belive that this track is good with such an title it cant be good!!
