Roadburn 2017 - First Bands, Warning Performing 'Watching From A Distance'
Get ready, Roadburn enthusiasts because next year's edition is already shaping up nicely! The first announcement was made today and Coven will perform their first ever European show (and the band's first show at all in decades); John Dyer Baizley will be their 2017 curator and Baroness will perform on the main stage as part of his curation; Warning will perform Watching From A Distance in full; GNOD will celebrate their tenth anniversary as their artist in residence. Plus, Zeal And Ardor, Pillorian, Perturbator, Schammasch, Les Discrets and last but not least Oranssi Pazuzu will be performing on the Main Stage (good news for those who missed out this year).
Joining Patrick on stage will be Marcus Hatfield on bass guitar and Christian Leitch on drums, completing Warning's final line-up, and also guitarist Wayne Taylor, who has played bass for the band for some time almost twenty years back, between the demos and the first album, The Strength To Dream.
From Patrick Walker: "I've been approached fairly frequently over the past several years about doing this and I only knew that the time and the circumstances would need to be right. I also understand that this record has left an indelible mark on a lot of people, for most of whom, by the time they became acquainted with the album, were unable to see us perform that music live. I am humbled that there is still an interest in Watching From A Distance all these years on, and I'm going to be very moved to be able to play it for an audience at Roadburn 2017."
If that's not enough to get you excited, many more bands will still be announced.
The 22nd edition of Roadburn Festival will take place on April 20th-23rd, 2017 at the 013 venue, in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Tickets for Roadburn 2017 will go on sale from Thursday, 20 October 2016.
