For anyone who doesn't know Lamb Of God is a (disputed) thrash act from Richmond Virgina. While being very technical, they also have a nice deep chugging feeling throughout their songs. Sometime this Summer they should be releasing their album Sacrement, which is being strictly kept under wraps. What are your thoughts on the band? Do you think the new album will be better then their earlier material? Who is your favorite member in the band and why?

I agree I find it quite irritating that they changed their style so drastically one thing I do like about the change though is unlike other bands it doesn't seem like they are doing it for the wrong reasons and it's just something they wanted to try out and the direction they want to go down so I can't really fault them for that but it would have been nice if they gave some warning about the change in sound because in interviews they made it seem like it was just a change lyrically.

Redneck sounds better than any track on Ashes of the Wake IMO. It has some groove to it, doesn't bore me. Unlike Ashes of the Wake, which got old faster than any other album I've ever heard.

i listened to 'Redneck' today for the second time and it shocked me how much Randy sounded like Phil from Pantera in places
oh well - i ma very much looking forward to this album being released, not long now

Teach their own I guess but I've always found Ashes of the Wake to be a great album but I heard another full song from Sacrament today called Walk With Me In Hell or something like that and it was pretty good I liked it alot more then Redneck which I think the only thing that really bothers me on that track is the vocals he doesn't pull them off as well as he does live when he makes the song sound great. So I guess I have mixed feelings about this new album right now so I am also looking forward to the released so I can make a better opinion about it.

yes indeed - you cannot concieve an opinion of an album just by listening to two tracks
i like everything Lamb Of God have done so far - so i have good expectations for this as well
they used to be one of my top favorites but i just havent listened to them a lot latley
i even have a signed poster of them signed to me and has messages on it they wrote for me and stuff - my brother got them to do it for me a while ago now

Lamb of God isn't my alltime favourite band, but they have an awesome sound though. They don't always sound original, but if they can make your head bang like crazy, who cares about originality. Good vocals imo.

go to lambofgod.tv then under albums there's 30 second parts of each song off Sacrament
and two full songs
so far what remember is that people complained there wasn't an "atmosphere" in lamb of god's music
well there's atmosphere, just a bit, i think?
and don't be fooled by the sound clips since if you listen to the "Walk With Me In Hell" clip
you'll probably be like that's not very good
but listen to the whole song it's killer
the vocals have changed once again
this change is good, for me
this album kinda sounds like testament and pantera and some other stuff
also if you listen to the full songs when vocals are present the guitar isn't so complex
in 4/4 timing thing
while complex without vocals present
from what the clips show... this album is quite different
and i'm guessing there's gonna be solos
and it's more personal than political
i'm blabbing on now lol

Lamb of God are one of my modern day favorites, and I'm really looking forward to the new album - just wondering if they can top Ashes - that album is so fucking solid. Redneck I thought was a really good song, even if very similar to Pantera. Also heard Walk With Me In Hell, and gotta say I liked it quite a bit - like the direction the band is headed.

I'm sure it will top it. Ashes is such a terrible album.....Sacrament shouldn't have any problems.

I don't think Ashes of the Wake was terrible at all. It's my least favorite of theirs, but I still think it's good. It showed matured songwriting, but still kept the intensity from the previous releases.

Really I think Randy Blythe is one of the most intense live vocalists and is even better live because of all the intensity and agression he brings.

Adler's drumming is so over the top. There are several drummers out there that can beat the shit out of the drum kit but this guy manages to do the same but in such a precise way that allows you to appreciate every single hammering he does to that poor drum kit. I haven't heard shit of their new album yet.

By the way, I don't like that advertising of them up there.

@tattootildeath:

Dude, I don't know what you are talking about, each time I have heard Blythe his voice is there, as clear as it is in the record and perhaps better. It must have been a sound problem or something.

The advertising, I don't like it. Advertising a Metal band in a Metal forum leaves me a bad taste in my mouth.

it pays the metalstorm bills doesnt it. we need the advertising so the site can be run, at least it isnt advertising some pop album

i just listened to 'Sacrament' for the first time just now and i was rather impressed
i mean it isnt fantastic, i dont think it is their best either - but it is a very good album with some really good songs on it
i will have to listen to it a few moer time soon though so it can sink in more and i will have a better view of the album

Alright I'm listening to Sacrament for the first time now because I didn't download it early for some reason but I have to say that Redneck misled me to think it would be a completely shitty album none of the songs so far are really similar to it. It's by no means the greatest album I've ever heard this year but so far it sounds like a decent album. After I listen to it a few more times I'll have a better opinion on it.

Hell, I love the new album. I think it just pushed LoG back into my favorite bands list again. I think it's awesome, and I agree, none of the songs really sound like Redneck at all. So for those who didn't like that song take my word for it and give the rest of an album a chance. It might be my favorite LoG album actually, or very close to ATPB. And Randy's voice just keeps getting better.

i dont understand why people might dislike 'Redneck'

Actually I was indeed expecting something like recommendations with my previous post But if you say their whole discography is good... : I'll come back here later, after listening to more material from the band.

In order to protect ourselves from some viruses we need to take some vaccines. We know that they are necessary but taking them include that needle which brings what some, including me, consider being an undesirable and unpleasant feeling. Because of this we do let ourselves be injected but doing this still seems unpleasant and we would rather like to do something else instead of going through that. Unfortunately there aren't always other alternatives for skipping things we don't enjoy and we have to conform and accept going through that process. That is the same thing that I feel towards that advertising: I know it is necessary but that doesn't mean I feel comfortable with it.

Sekhmet: yes! it is all good. just the only thing i can think of that you might not like so much is how the drumming sounds kinda weird on 'New American Gospel'
its all good though

Darth Satanious: it took me two times reading through that to understand you. haha
i understand what you mean though, but like you understand theres nothing we can do to stop us seeing it

Sacrament is AMAZING. The first time I heard the song redneck on their website I was VERY skepticical. But it is the only pantera esque song on the album, and fits in nicely. I'm on my third time around listening to the cd, and like it more each time. Their drummer is SO fucking good. The cd is actually quite atmospheric as well which is unique for a (disputed) thrash band. Production is sweet as hell.

Favorite tracks (tentative): Walk with me in hell, foot to the throat, blacken the cursed sun, requiem, beating on death's door

what are your favorite tracks?

As The Palaces Burn still remains my favorite. Guitars in that album cannot be topped.
