as for myself, i guess i have to say i have nothing at all against homosexual people. i know homosexuals who are brilliant people and their sexual orientation has nothing to do with anything. i have been approached by gay people in bars and frankly, i found their interest flattering more than anything else, and they always backed off the moment i said "sorry mate, im straight". women have to reject guys who approach them in bars on a daily basis, does it really pose such a threat to your masculinity to do it once in a while as well? If anything, its a humorous situation and nothing more, nothing less.

I wouldnt want my children to see scantly clad people behaving sugestivly period. Straight or gay, behaving that way in public is just socially unexeptable.

Actually, that was not about parades, only, but again, there is possibility, big possibility that a lot of straight people will see parade, wanted it or not, like as I did. I must agree, they don't look like in pics I posted, those are extreme examples, but again, they were posted with different purpose. gay people dont go around beating up anyone. you might find their displays of affection objectionable (although this should really mean u should find a guy and his girlfriend kissing in the park objectionable) but otherwise they dont hurt anyone with their parades. they just show to the world that they are happy with who they are. imo, that is not a bad message to send to the world. freedom of expression is key here, and i will forever remain an advocate of this particular freedom, since it is absolutely necessary for even partial democracy to be in effect. u might not like what some people are saying but goddamn it, they have the right to say it. besides, the image of two guys kissing neednt be something gross, that has more to do with the conditioning religion etc has been cramming down our throats for centuries than anything else. we are in the 21st century, get over it.

Well, as I said, sometimes the parades might go over the top, but still, I'm quite sure extreme examples don't represent the majority. The point of such parades is not to make some gross images, but something else, but it has already been discussed.

I hadn't thought about that before, but I agree that it is probably better to explain the things to children than leave them in ignorance and make their own conclusions. And I don't think that such parades will influence them in any significant way. The sexual orientation is inborn, so there's no reason to fear, that someone will become gay if they see this, at least that's the way I see it.

And a little bit about the neo-nazi parades. I've heard a saying that tolerance of intolerance is not tolerance, and I think it suits quite well here. Gay parades don't promote violence against anyone.

I can understand people who don't like some elements of such events. So maybe some sort of compromiss should be reached there.
