Bomb Jerusalem? Are you are aware that a good percent of Palestinians live in Jerusalem? And how is killing more people going to really change anything? People don't seem to realize that the reason this conflict keeps on continuing is because violence is always continued on side or another. As Taka said, whether we agree that Israel should exist or not, its still going to be here and we have to live with it. Lets say you don't agree with it... fine... but implying that we should re-locate an established population seems also very wrong to me (and immoral).

I don't know dude... I'm used to these comments all the time so I didn't take it to heart. But I find that these types of comments are more driven by emotional disposition, so in a way I can feel empathy even though I sincerely disagree with that idea that anything should be bombed.

Though I agree to the existence of Israel, I think negotiations can be set in place to get rid of the many settlements that interfere with peace. Even though in the past, giving back land wouldn't of seen much result, I do have hope that the new Palestinian government has better intentions.

On a side note, I don't want to be understood as pro-israel or pro anything. I am trying to approach this conflict as neutral as possible and want the best for both sides. Yes, the hippie in me has awaken. Peaceee mannngggg.

I think an international force could help though its debatable. I definitely wouldn't oppose, because a presence is better than nothing isn't it? But what needs to happen first is the blockade needs to end as they are not only smuggling weapons through tunnels, but food and livestock (yes, I saw pictures on bbc, lol).

People are just not ready for peace at all at this point and its really sad. Even if Israel supposedly tries to crush hamas with that intention, they are doing it in such a terrible way and not many Israelis seem to understand that.

Just thinj about it,

this "war" last for 60 years. But you can't say that 60 years now are equal to 60 years in 1700 (because of communication system, transport system, weapon system, and so on).

So, with a 60 years conflits between 1948 and 2009, we can say that we have here the longest conflict in all human history. I don't expect anything. That will last forever, sadly.

It is a tough, tough situation and I think it is a failure for all mankind. I agree with Giok about the time concept.

I only hope that the sides involved will find some kind of solution, but honestly I suppose that until they have this religious fervor ahead of the real situation, things can not improve much...

as much as I condemn israel and their settlements and policy towards palestinians, you are also naive. Hamas is using every mean it can, and right now every child and civilian dead is a gain for them, it draws attention in the international media.

This conflict is hard to summarize in two sentences, but the obvious truth which neither side wants to admit is that both sides are at fault and if neither side will compromise the conflict will never end.

Israel is at fault for transforming gaza and the west bank into a prison and for building settlements against international law. The occupation is perverse and many israelis know it. On the other side, hamas knows that by firing rockets it will accomplish nothing except to provoke an attack from israel and then they do hide between civilians and take shelter in un schools because that is the only weapon they have got. Neither the israeli government, nor hamas wants peace, and the tragedy of the civilians on both sides is disregarded by either side.

You as a muslim are as one-sided for palestinians as americans in their support for israel. I have friends involved with getting funds for humanitarian aid to gaza and the west bank and the hardest is when you hear that the funds meant for food were taken and used to buy guns. So stop being naive about it. You are right, the palestinian people suffer the most, and the current attack is harming civilians the most but the conflict is not only one-sided.

First I would like to say that I am no fan of Hamas,I support Hizbullah' ways not Hamas'.

in my opinion the world view on the conflict is more and more unbiased and the world sees the suffering of the palestinian people. If no attacks are carried out by the palestinians, israel would have no justification for retaliation and to keep the status quo.
This is of course hard because the resentments in the area run deep, and many are inclined to get revenge in a violent way. But you have to look at history and see that in india for example gandhi did exactly that and in an era where the media was not as real-time as it is now it still forced the english to give independence to india. As he famously said: "There are many causes that I am prepared to die for but no causes that I am prepared to kill for". Killing israeli civilians or even military personnel is unjustified because they are not at fault for the suffering. I personally know israelis, friends and distant relatives that are in the army but want nothing more than peace and justice for palestinians. So they are innocent even if they are led by an unjust government.

So I think that by remaining peaceful in time, isreal would have to submit to world opinion and give palestinians their freedom. I think that obama can also have an important role to play here as he is far more unbiased than bush, this change in government will also reflect in how the american media portrays the conflict.

Keeping the status quo has another signification when it comes to the palestinian case,see for example,from 1993 until the break of the intifadha,there were no attacks from palestinians,and it was a period of relative calm,but the truth is that settelments kept getting bigger,making the palestinian lands shrink day after day,so colonists can say later "it's too late we already live here what are we going to do..",the situation on the ground kept getting worse for the palestinians,daily life under occupation was still miserable,and there was no sign that things are going to be any better.Keeping the status quo will give israel the time to steal more and more land.I am telling you no one can force israel to submit to international law that's the centre of the problem,Israel has the rights to do things others don't have the right to.
And I am disappointed until now by Obama's reactions, he started with those famous words on israel's right to defend itself,and didn't blame them for anything.

One important question is, if palestinians will get their country and let's say every illegal settlement is dismantled, like they did in gaza, will palestinians prosper or will they continue to fight israel and kill more innocents? I am confident that there will be a palestinian state but what will the palestinians do with that? Will they prosper and make peace with israel or will they continue to fight. For that I am not so confident. Religious fanaticism and hate towards jews will overshadow that independence.

Look at history,Egypt and Jordan used to be in a state of war with Israel,but after taking back their land in the war of 73,and after signing peace treaties,neither egyptians nor jordanians fired a bullet at Israel.
But the problem in the palestinian case,that there was a peace process,the Oslo peace process,but the israeli pri minister at the time Rabin got assassinated by his own people,before getting to finish the process,and since then,only hypocrite people got to be pri ministers,and there was no step towards peace from israel(don't tell me gaza withdrawal was a step towards peace),despite the many international and arab peace initiatives.

I spoke with my bro not long ago....he was watching news on television and there was an interview with an Israeli representative....
The issue was that during the current conflict some local Palestinian people (civilians...women, children you know) were taken by the Israeli fighters to some large building and they were told "We do this in order to avoid innocent casualties : ) trust us!"... the people went there thinking they'd be safe there but then (what a surprise) the same Israeli forces appeared above their heads and....opened fire...of course most of these civilians died...
In this television broadcast this Israeli representative was COVERING UP the incident with messages such as "Oh yes we did kill these kids and women inside the building but our soldiers heard that there were some terrorists hiding amongst these civilians....we just had to do that...trust us, we didn't do anything on puuurpoose..."


We were deeply disturbed by this....and such attitude surely is as horrid as any terrorist attack against Jewish civilians....but this was simply a horrid classic..."We killed all of them because there might've been some terrorists in the building..."

Awful...it's as if they're now taking pleasure of "avenging" for the holocaust by pushing innocent civilians inside a room, saying "we won't hurt you" and then killing them all....that's exactly comparable to what nazis did by pushing their prisoners into the room, saying "there's bathroom" and then gassing them.....
It's indeed...classical "sausage for sausage" policy they love so much...only those who are responsible for holocaust are long gone....why now inflicting the sick revenge upon those who least deserve it....

But the fact is that the opinion of the Chinese government should be veeeery careful, considering their situation is not much different from Israel's (well, Tibetans do not bomb surrounding areas with home-made rockets).

Another problem, Palestines are mostly sunni, and Iran is mostly shia. Both groups start to hate each other more. And another problem is that for Hamas Israel (Palestine) is a piece of land which is preserved for believers (sunni muslims) and therefor all jews must go. Thats why Hamas will never even think about accepting Israel or leave the land, not even for millions or billions of dollars.

99% of the muslims in other coutries hate Palestines, but they all hate Israel more. It is not just a conflict of land, or ethnics or religions, it is a total conflict, involving (and infliciting) all people on this world. Who's gonna solve it?
