Funeral Doom metal is amazing, the atmosphere that the bands create, you can acctually feel the music, Shape of Despair is one of my fav bands, the only thing band about Funeral Doom metal is that its 2 undergroud, you cant find much about it, specially if you live here in the US ='(

Man furneal doom are how BM was in early 90ties, its underground and I think its good for it, but only so long I f we can get some CD and sounds of bands, if itys underground so deep that good band has realised only 10 tales and nobody dont know where to get
Man in Latvia nobody dont know even that that fureal doom exist, here well in USA etliest someone knows about it

Did anyone hear the band 1000 Funerals?

After hearing some sampels of bands that were mentioned in the original post, I came to appreciate the style. I'm getting into it some more.

Check out Elysian Blaze, an Aussies funeral doom with a black metal influence.

Oh yes. In my opinion, one of the most "funereal" funeral doom bands around. Great stuff. Well, the wailing female vocals might get annoying after a while, but that's not a serious problem.

talking about Russian Funeral Doom, everyone should try Comatose Vigil, a band that makes suffocating music inspired especially by Shape Of Despair and Skepticism, although much heavier. They had only released one album, "Not A Gleam Of Hope", which is highly recomended.

Heehehehehee I have turned my 59 years old friend of mine into Funeral Doom I played some Shape Of Despair and he fell in love


@Streetcleaner. If the band is influenced by Shape Of Despair and Skepticism , it should be very good I think that I'm gonna check it out

I know them because some mambers are part of Lettian Dreams some kind drak/romantic doom metal from Paris,
i like bouth bands, that band are like sid eproject of them
I had seen this cD in storesd ''Frail Visions'' when I was in Stockholm, I thought by it, but i was lucky I didnt, becauyse my bag was trowed, of idiotic airport workers and 10CD was brokem, moustly whit photos

I'm still checking over funeral doom, has never been so much appealing because its atmospheric grounds.
I'will have to do my homework and check a bit of information about more bands, because the only ones I handle right now are Shape Of Despair, Skepticism and Funeral.

A good band from russia is Quasar. Also Intaglio is worth checking out. Both play funeral doom

Btw anyone heard any news from Esoteric lately? They hv been kinda quiet all year.

i'm not all TOO into doom, or funeral doom. and i rather not be either. i have a cd buying problem, and the rarer the bands, the more expensive their cds...so best if i dotn get into other genres all too much.

anyways, anyone familiar with AHAB? are they popular in your country? are their albums/demos easy to find?

Yeap, I can read Cyrillic... No problem with that. If you need something to translate in more understandable language, just ask..

oh, yeah i know of DC++...but, i'm sort of against ripping cds. if you rip cds, there is no sentimental value to em.

Some more bands to check:

=> Kairi (UK). They play Ambient/Funeral Doom. Sound pretty interesting. Get their demo "Kairi".
=> Amaranthine Trampler (UK). Funeral Doom. In metal-archives.com their demo album was rated pretty bad but I think it's underrated. For me it sounds great.
=> Fungoid Stream (Argentina). Athmospheric/Funeral Doom.

I had 2 songs The Bock and The Key I dunno where I get them, but it was when I was in Aregntina in MA(now stuck in Canada )
