I went inside Lincoln cathedral yesterday and took a bunch of nice pictures.
I won't post them here though unless you really want, but I got a really nice picture of the outside of it. The sky was so blue.

There has been no editing done to this. This is just how it developed.

I say - more pics please

It will remind me of my visit.
I found the best place to take pics of the cathedral was from the castle walls.

At least your pic proves that we do get blue skies here once in a while

Yes, it is beautiful. I prefer good but unedited photos, I almost never edit mine.

Haha! That's a really good picture. If I am out with my camera and there's a sparrow on a roof, I'll take a picture of it to compare!!

Here are three pictures I took yesterday and 100% crops of two of them. And below, a few more pictures of the Cathedral!!

(You might have to open the images in new tabs)

A toad

100% crop

A chameleon

100% crop

There was a heron flying in the sky, so I thought I'd give myself the challenge to take a picture of it. Haha.

And a few from inside the Cathedral

Hej,
The chameleon isn't bad for 400 ISO, the toad is a bit disappointing but it's the light's fault (or the shade's fault I should say). Chamelon reminds me of a pic of an iguana I took in at the zoo... not enough light, didn't want to raise ISO so I used the head of a kid (no IS)... it worked. :p

You might try panoramas for inside churches, even outside, the wide angle is never wide enough. Tripod needed for inside pics though.

Haha yeh, I would have liked to have used ISO 100 or 200, but it was just too dark really.
The toad I know is overexposed.. I had everything on manual when I went down to take a picture of it, so I guessed the shutter speed, etc. and quickly took the picture. I was just changing the shutter speed to get a better picture and it hopped into my camera, and then away. Hahaha.
I don't have a tripod.. never really been too bothered to get one.

Argh, blurry, not enough light, 400 ISO would have looked better than blur, especially 800x600 pixels size. :/ (cropped a bit)

I raised to 200 ISO here(too late), no sign of noise at this size anyway :

Hej,
Oh who's mad enough to look at 100% crops and EXIFs ? Okej, I am.

Seems your FZ28 pics looks a bit like mine (from my sparrow) : the greys looks much better than the brown, or not sure if it's the feathers' look which does that. Just like my pic, the "breast" look better than the wings and heads. Still this is very good for these 300 euros cams with huge zooms (= can't be perfect all the range).
And bad english, very hard indeed to know the birds names in english, you just have to check each new bird, even in your native language you don't know all species.

*edited* : stupid vocabulary mistake. ^^

Ha, that's a really good idea! How did you set that up? Is it a feature in the camera, or is there something added on?

Hej,
This is done via CHDK, a hack for canon compacts firmwares. It can detect colour differences or light differences from the LCD and shoot right after (fastest times beat 100ms). Then you just have to find the right place where birds/animals will come (either using food (in winter) or here a place where they often land). You can also shoot the lightnings, it is that fast.
And I've already showed a lot of pics taken like that here.
Want more ?

Yesterday I went out to a nature, conservation and falconry centre. I got some cool pictures! (My personal favourite is the red butterfly, wow!)

^ This picture took really nicely. There's so much detail even at the 100% crop:

^ Although most things were in cages, this wasn't so I'm glad I managed to take a picture of it by sneaking up on it.

^ This picture is just awesome!! There's so much detail:

^ Here's another one, different colours.

^ Emu, surprisingly hard to take pictures of. They don't stand still.

^ This has to be one of the funniest pictures I've taken. It's a baby eagle I think.

^ And a raccoon.

I took plenty more pictures of various birds of prey if anyone wants to see more of them!

Hej,
Hehe, much easier to use to zoom in at the zoo or such place where birds can't fly away to far from you. ^^
I took some macro butterflies too lately, havn't hosted anything yet, so we can compare, was very hard to keep them in the frame for me. No drops on them to give the same nice effect, though.
Nice baby eagle, yeah, and not sure what's the other small bird. Going to the zoo next monday (with my job :p).

I have also redstarts to come (teasing).
