I am currently listening to Opeth's cover of Alice in Chains' song "Would?" and am liking it very much. I like it both because it's obviously the original song still, but Opeth puts their own spin on it and even though I'm not a big Opeth fan, it's very refreshing.

This one´s not really a metal song cover, just a metal cover of a song, and I love it, it´s depeche mode´s World in my eyes, by Sonata Artica

I just listened to Unleashed's cover of Breaking the Law. Pretty good but just makes me laugh every time I hear it. I do like Unleashed's cover of Countess Bathory alot though. One of my favorites though would be Decapitated's cover of Mandatory Suicide. Just freaking awesome. Some other ones I like: Vader - Flag Of Hate [Kreator] Vader - Reign in Blood [Slayer] Dark Tranquility - Bringer of Torture [Kreator] uhhh, thats all i can think of at the moment due to me being tired. but i know there are more.

Metalium did a great cover of Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple on their 1st album 'Millennium Metal - Chapter One'. Also Check out Helloween's 'Metal Jukebox' album which has some great songs covered by Helloween, from Abba, The Beatles and Scorpions to name but a few.

Well, generally I don't like covers too much, but there are couple of it that sounds kinda good. Among these I would mentioned one, also my favourite one, that sounds just amazing...Metallica's - Nothing Else Matter played by Apocalyptica. It is so simple, slowly and perfectly performanced by these ''cello'' guys . I especially liked it, when they have played this one at Metalcamp last year, infront of 10.000 metalheads. Huh, it was quite emotional and epic atmosphere

My Favs Paranoid (megadeth cover) (as mentioned Above) Would (Opeth Cover) Nothing else Matters (apocalyptica Cover) Tom Sawyer (cover by Mindless Self Indulgence) -dunno if this is considered metal though Oops I did it again - Bodom Cover - all I can type is ROFL Bark at the Moon - strung Out Cover. This is really more of a crossover punk/metal cover, but it's just done so freaking well.

Children of Bodom's Aces High and Silent Scream are two of the best covers I've heard. In the case of Aces High, I even like it better than the original.

Machine Head did a fantastic version of Hallowed Be Thy Name. I don't know if I prefer theirs or Cradle Of Filth's more, but both are superb covers.

Death did an amazing job with Priest's Painkiller. Chuck Schuldiner sounded frighteningly good. I really did not know Chuck could hit those notes but he did and very well.

I've always liked Sepulturas cover of Orgasmatron by Motorhead. Also, Dark Tranquillitys covers of Iron Maidens, 22 Acacia Avenue and Kreators, Bringer of Torture. Both are very well done and not the usual cover songs of the respected bands.

I think my absolute favourite cover-song is Iron Maiden - That Girl which was written by one of Adrian Smith's former bandmates. Bruce Dickinson singing with Montserrat Caballé "Bohemian Rhapsody" is also really awesome. Machine Head were already mentioned, and I agree...they really rule on covering songs, especially their "Hole In The Sky" version (it's a Black Sabbath cover) is incredible. Metallica - Whiskey In The Jar also counts to my favourites...It has the "killer-vibe" ^^ Pantera - Cat Scratch Fever also rocks every time I listen to it! Anacrusis - N.I.B. really cool, got that 80s Thrash Metal touch!

They did however cover New Model Army's I Love the World which is a totally awesome cover btw. So please tell me where you found the N.I.B. cover cause I want to hear it.

11.04.2009 - 13:47 Written by Bad English on 10.04.2009 at 20:55 Yes, I found it on their site. And NO N.I.B. was NEVER released on Suffering Hour. I have that one on LP, cassette & cd and not on a single one is it featured. But apparently it was recorded during the same sessions just never released.
