After making a poll with having only 8 possible choices I decided that it would be better to have a Beer topic. So, tell us what's your favorite beer, why it is and give us all the necessary information about it so that we can try it when we have the chance.

So, keep on the discussion about this great drink called Beer!

As for me, I've already wrote it: Erdinger (i don't know much about it's short etc) is the best. It is a beer that kneeds in your bottle and it tastes great!

When you drink German beer and then go back to American beer, a part of your soul might just die.

Only if you go for the big US beer brands. Drink microbrews and you'll be amazed. Imo American microbrews are most probably the best in the world.

Love beer.

I don't have any particular brand of beer that I can call "my favourite", but I especially enjoy German and Czech beer. I was in Poland about one year ago and tried many brands of Polish beer, all of them were awesome but I enjoyed the most LECH, HARNAS and SPECJAL. Among the German beer, I've tried many, but I enjoy FRANZISKANER and PAULANER.

In Spain we don't have many good beers, but SAN MIGUEL is quite good. And if you want to spend a little more, just try VOLL DAMM

Maybe. So my behavior suggests that I am an alcoholic. In ancient times it was a part of Indian culture to consume intoxicants. So this European or Non-European thing is pretty much out of place.

I just found out that I can buy Budweiser here as well. I don't know why but I hadn't noticed it anytwhere in Latvia... I remember I drank it every day when I was in Prague and that is probably the best beer I've ever tasted... yea.

The problem is, I don't remember what kind of Budweiser I drank, so now I'm just going to find it out, hah.

I was just out in Oregon and really enjoyed the microbrews there. Full Sail Brewing Company and Deschutes Brewery were very nice...
Also in Baltimore there is Clipper City Brewing Company and Novare Res Bier Cafe in Portland, Maine which I really enjoyed. The main reason I get out to these areas is my girlfriend's geology conventions- those geologists love their beer.

As for the best beer I would have to say Victory HopDevil.
I may be biased because of it's local origin but this beer is amazing. If any of you guys would like to try some and are ever in the Pennsylvania area send me a PM and we can visit the brewery for some hops and wings. You may also like Golden Monkey if you like to get rowdy.

I may even try to smuggle some out to the Czech Repub. this August for Brutal Assault.

You might be biased. But I can guarantee anyone here that that indeed is a brilliant beer.
I enjoyed two bottles of it about three weeks ago when my local specialist beer store carried it. Not knowing it I bought two just to try it out. Like I always do with beers I don't know, I buy two bottles to get a good perspective as to if I like it or not. The first one soetimes doesn't go down too well, but when you wait a couple of days and try the second you might like it. But with the HopDevil I immediately loved it. But then again American IPAs are amongst my favourites. At least Americans dare to experiment and go for extreme and bold tastes. And with IPAs I want extremity.

Of course it you can buy import beer in every single place here but I was talking about this one particularly - as I said, I had NEVER seen it in shops (not that I searched for it, true)... and yeah, how about you going to Stockmann every day (100 kilometres?) to have some special beer? Bit of a travelling, no?

Anyway, now that I finally found it, it's another great thing to drink (and I mean, towards some Aldaris... erm... there must be a few other options what are more or less tasty).

It is good, but not as good as the hype makes you wanna believe. Rochefort 8 is better imo.
The reason for its hype is cause it is so immensely hard to get hold of. If I remember correctly pubs and shops aren't even allowed to seel it in Belgium. You have to buy it at the monastery and they're not always selling it there either. And iof they sell it you can only buy one crate of 24 bottles max.
Sometimes I bump into a couple of bottles in specialized Dutch beer shops. But they are quite expensive.
Thank God my dad currently has two crates of the stuff in his cellar, so whenever I visit my parents I have the chance of consuming one.

Wow, there really is a shitload of beer brands around, i didn't know even a fraction of the brands mentioned here. Kind of a futile quest to try and give all of them a try. I didn't even manage to try every brewery within 100km of my home. But hey, look at this and then go to judge me:
LINK

With this variety to choose from, I didn' really drink much from abroad so far and I can only tell you about stuff that won't be for sale abroad or even farther than 30km from the Brewery.

First off, Beck's is imo not deserving of the name "beer". If you want to have hops extract dissolved in ethanol be my guests. But for those that do actually want taste and aroma beyond blunt bitterness just try any other pilsner actually brewed with real hops. The same probably applies to most of the "big" German breweries like Bitburger, Veltins, Jever etc. but I can't really say anything about them. When in doubt you might check out Czech Pilsner, I tried a few good ones when I was there and after all they invented the Stuff...
If you are lucky and come by this godforsaken strip of land grab a Spalter, Landwehrbäu Toppler Pils, Kitzmann, Käuzle or Leikeim.

Another very Important lesson is never to drink Oettinger. And that has nothing to do with opinion, its just awful by any standard.

For the good stuff i mostly drink what is known as "Helles" here, which would probably qualify as a lager. My highlights at the moment are Bamberger Aktien Bräu, Zirndorfer Landbier, Bruckberger Dorn Bräu and Weißenoher. Good Wheat Beers are Gutmann and Paulaner, especially their dark one. For something a little more hefty check out Lammsbräu or Kloster Scheyern Doppelbock. But I never really disliked any of the local beers, so you will probably stumble not stumble upon poison by just picking at random. At least if you avoid the really cheap stuff.

Wow, this turned out to be a namedropping orgy, sorry for not picking simple favourites but the vast array didn't really help me decide.

I like wheat beers alot 'cause give a lot of energy (without quantity!) Paulaner and Erdinger are my favourite brands. Especially in the winter time. My friends unfortunately don't drink beer in the wintertime & make fun of me but i don't care! cause i dont like heavy drinks, like whiskey & vodka stuff. Make you drunk so easy, and i don't like it.

Other brands i really enjoy: Bernard Dark (Czech), Murphy's Irish Stout, Lapin Kulta (Finland).
My usual picks!

I usually have to get payed to drink that shit - don't get why bud, miller etc ever got big at all.

US microbrews on the other hand - gotta love 'em.

My favourite styles are us style pale ales / IPAs, belgian ales & trappists and bock. (I have a sweet tooth also.)

My favourite beer is probably the Semper Ardens Christmast Ale - a seasonal ale produced by Carlsberg. (Don't think it is available outside Denmark)

You by any chance member of Danske Olentusiater? (sorry cvannot produce the right O here on this keyboard)

Btw, at the festival I tasted a shitload of Danish microbrews and they were absolutely stunning. You guys make a lot of great stouts and porters.
Another great though extremely strong (17.5%) beer was Mikkeller Black. The Chili Chocolate Stout by Brockhouse was also great.

And I am a big fan of almost all of Jacobson's beers. Yes, I know that is Carlsberg hahaha.

Oh, and special mention should go to Bryggeriet Djaevlebryg (Osterbrogade 156, 3. tv. 2100 Copenhagen O http://www.djaelvebyrg.dk) with their Old Mephisto (barley wine 10.5%) Son Of Nekron ( smoked porter 6.5%), Nekorn (stout 8.5%), Gudelos (Imperial Stout 8.9%) Pride Of Nekron (Imperial Stout 10.5%)

After the great success of Duits&Lauret Stout next month will see the launch of Duits&Lauret Blond. http://www.duitslauret.com The brewer is a great friend of mine who is a total metalhead (my age). Btw, the English translation of the site was done (and will be done for future beers) by me.

It was a great festival. Mikkeller makes som amazing shit - even if some of it is a bit too experimental for my tastes. He has a series of single hop ipas, each brewed with one sort of hop - it gives amazingly different flavours.

Bröckhouse have gone bust unfortunately. (and some scumball company has bought the assets and now use the name to put our ordinary lagers & pilsners.)

No I'm not a member. For some reason I've never got around signing up.

I've never heard about Djævlebryg, but next time I'm in Copenhagen I'll see if I can get a few bottles.

About Mikkeller: I tried their 17.6% a few weeks back. It was called Mikkeller... something... Black Hole. It was ok, but a bit to fruity for my taste, but that wasn't a surprise since many very strong beers mostly are.

Speaking of Mikkeller: I just read in a Danish newspaper (Link in Danish here) that he/they are opening a bar with their own beers of course but also al kinds of special beers ranging from 1,1 to 32 %! This could be interesting. The prices will be between 40 DKK to 3000 DKK (5,5 to 400 Euros).

EDIT: a link to the bar's website here
