Here are two nice releases. The first is Skelethal's Deathmanicvs Revelation, a nice old school death metal sounding releases with some black and thrash influences scattered aroung.

bandcamp

The second is a bit of a mix between black and death metal with some really interesting production. Pretty dense stuff, and the vocals are great.

That sounds great. Lots of really nice stuff on that label. Discovered Malthusian only yesterday who blew my socks off.

That's exactly how I found them Listened to Malthusian (who are incredible btw) and thought I'd dig around that label's other releases.

If I had to take a guess I'd say the cover artist on that was responsible for Behemoth's latest one.

It seems that Morowe released a new album this year...

"Fresh breath of stink" (Nihil). And it's probably the most apt description of this album. A nice stuff that I had the opportunity to hear live.

Found four nice releases today. The first is a very slow, simplistic mixture of doom and sludge by Whitehorse. Pretty much as good (if not better) as anything they've done. The album doesn't officially come out until May, but the whole thing is streaming on bandcamp anyways.

bandcamp

The next two are splits. The first is Aphonic Threnody & Frowning, who both play very melodic styles of death doom with some funeral doom influences. The second split is Aphonic Threnody & Ennui, with a slightly weaker track by AT, but a rather solid track by Ennui.

bandcamp

Finally, I discovered Monolord today, who play a slightly psychedelic mixture of sludge, stoner, and some doom. Only two songs have been released off of this so far, but I think they're pretty solid.

Came across this earlier today, can't wait for the full thing to be released. Sounds like everything I wanted it to be, and that cover art gets a big thumbs up from me.

Whooooooaaaaahhh. Was not expecting this. Cheers dude. That album artwork is "sick" in both senses of the word. Music sounds extremely dense too, they've obviously upped the production quite a bit on this one. Sounds good though.

I feel like I've seen this somewhere before (a pre-shooped version). I thought it might be Whistler's Mother at first.

Anyway, I haven't listened to any of these yet, but I will tomorrow.

Described as post-black / doom. Not sure how doomy this is, but it's pretty damn good. Modern, moody, mery good...

Here's something extremely interesting and quite unusual overall. Haven't listened to it all that much yet but seems to be like a mixture of death metal, progressive metal, ambient, maybe even some Tool-esque moments and lots of other influences including a little djent. In fact every song seems a bit different. Doesn't seem to use any of those influences exclusively though so really can't be described accurately other than maybe avant-garde or extreme progressive metal.

Old-school, cut-down black metal. Really effective and direct stuff and memorable riffs

Strange, dissonant death metal. Think these guys were quite liked by some people on here a while back with their last album

[edit]

Damn, just noticed there's a new Thantifaxath coming out.

It has been on my check list for quiet a while now, but I am bombarded with music and unfortunately, am too busy these days. Will definitely take your words seriously and go for this album ASAP.

So far this year I'm quite enjoying the new Kriegsmaschine, Iskald, Corpsessed, Artificial Brain, Aenaon and Behemoth. I wanted to get into the new Trenchrot and Vampire album (osdm) but in the end got pretty bored of it.

So this band called Grim Legion which is apparently a death metal from the dawn of the genre reformed and released an album with their old recorded (but never released) material. Enjoy. (I did )

It usually takes 2 or 3 listens for me to make a decision about an album. About 2 or 3 times a year I have a difficult time making a final decision. This is the first for 2014. I've listened to this album at least 5 times now. I cannot make up my mind. Part of me wants to throw it in the recycle bin, part of me wants to download the FLAC version and put it on disc. What say you?
