Now that I've actually grown on his sound, I'm looking forward to this. I'm looking forward to that DIS/GTT collab even more, though.

Gave it a 7, I'm still not fully sold on it but it might grow on me with a few additional spins.
It's not bad but not great either, some of the songs are boring...

Just someone trying to be edgy, probably

I feel like this album is teetering a lot between "meh" and "good." GTT's genius lies in the fact that all of the project's albums blend the drone, the industrial, and the black metal elements in various degrees, so you really never know what you're going to get. On this album, I'd say that it's a pretty fair balance between all three, but some of the transitions feel more abrupt and less seamless than usual. Also, the first half here is rather redundant, and I'd say that things only start to get really impressive in the second half of it. I guess that's not exactly a bad thing though, because it's always better to have an album that gets better as it progresses than one that just slowly descends into shit, and the former is definitely the case here. Since it gradually gets better, this album could end up growing on me a lot after a few more spins, but for now I think An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood and All The Dread Magnificence Of Perversity will remain my favorites.
"From The Black Mouth Of Spite" and "The Holy Body" are definitely the highlights, IMO. Love the chants at the end of the former and that darkly beautiful effect that the piano in the middle of the latter gives off.

Hmm, not as impressed with this as I want to be. Doesn't blow my mind, but it's still above average.
That collab better make up for it.

My first thought after a few songs is "why the vocals?" Musically this is pretty impressive cinematic terror that I just want to sink myself into but I can't because there's the too-high-in-the-mix vocals blocking the way at every point. I'd like to see another version with just the music.

Only heard one preview track and thought the exact same thing. Instrumental was really deep and interesting, but the vocals seemed more distracting than anything else, which is the exact opposite of how vocals on album like this should be.
Will check out the full album anyway though.

The album suffers from production issues. Totally agree on that.

It's a bit of s misstep for GTT I think. Production / vocal issues have never been a problem before that I recall. Maybe he was just trying something a bit different.

This is probably one of the weaker GTT full lengths. Not bad, but there's just so much brilliant music in GTT's catalog that this pales in comparison to.

I know comments here suggest that isn't as good as previous GTT albums, but is it in a similar style to them? Because I found this mindnumbingly boring, but I don't know whether another of their albums might work for me, or if GTT are just irreconcilable with my musical tastes. Noise and drone and avant-garde stuff generally doesn't fall within my interest spectrum, but I do occasionally stumble across some things with at least one foot in those genres that I quite like so I do still try and uncover things that might work for me, but I think this band, and musician in general based on De Magia Veterum, might be a bridge too far for me.

When I listen to GTT I want to be terrified. I want to experience temporary psychosis. I want to be so disgusted that I have to take a shower and go to church. This album unfortunately did none of those things to me.
