Their best ever!!! and one of the best Death Metal albums ever!!!

Flawless death metal album, so technical and tight with the guitarwork, and so sick with the lyrical content. Bands like carcass just don't come easy anymore...

My favourite death metal album of all time. I don't think any other album blew me away the first time I heard it quite as much as this one did.

The CSI team would have a hell of a time tracking these guys down.

The vocals are the stand out factor for me; the whole band takes part and you have a wide array of growling voices. Obviously this album has the best Death metal riffs ever.

Incredible album. I love everything about this album, its just perfect. The vocals, the perfect riffs and the songs in general! Death Metal classic!

This album has more big words in its lyrics than my mind could've conjured over the course of my existence. Props to whoever can determine what acts are exactly taking place in "Incarnated Solvent Abuse". Got the DVD with my CD though so looking forward to what the band has to say about all of this butchery taking place in the lyrics.

By far the best of Carcass.

Ughh endures the test of time for me as this was one of the first albums i bought with my own money. needless to say it is another must for any metalhead or music enthusiast in general.

I've been listening to this album since January (I think), and I say this is Carcass's finest album, not Heartwork. Heartwork gets boring after the 5th track. Necroticism has everything a Carcass album should have. And the band wasn't Melodeath yet, just Death Metal.

Edit: I found the source of the intros of Symposium Of Sickness and Pedigree Butchery. Both samples were taken from the Incredibly Strange Film Show. The voice in Symposium Of Sickness is Herschell Gordon Lewis, the Godfather of Gore. The voices in Pedigree Butchery are John Waters and David Friedman, respectively.

Grindcore? Never considered this one grindcore. Symphonies and Putrefaction, definitely, but Necrotism is death metal, possibly melodeath.

For sure a very good album, but there's something I find a bit off in the sound, don't really know what it is but it's quite upsetting

Very Brutal, very technical, very melodic, with the sickest of lyrics, and an excellent guitar tone, and a hint of grindcore. Classic death metal album, slightly prefer this to Heartwork. "Corporal Jigsore Quandary" is one of my favourite death metal songs, and the riffs are groovy as hell!

I love it! He's such a majestic poet. He captures the true essence of an autopsy in such grizzly detail.

Isn't he just? Equal parts gore-worship, political allegory and tongue-in-cheek scouse genius.

To quote Pig Destroyer: "This is beautiful, This is art".

And Ken, a different kind of poet, played one of the most memorable guitar riffs in metal history on his drum kit.

Not to be a contrarian, but this album doesn't do much for me. I much prefer Heartwork.

What do you mean? I don't know this.

Apparently when recording this album, Ken wrote a lot of the riffs using an acoustic guitar which Bill then took and adapted. What's even more amazing about this is that Ken wasn't a serious guitar player.

Also, Bill did some of the drum parts which were then adapted by Ken.

It's all on the official Carcass documentary on YouTube - check it out when you've got spare couple of hours, mate - it's only a series of interviews but entertaining and interesting in equal measure.

I didn't have a clue myself until I watched it! I think they did this on Symphonies and Necroticism but changed when they evolved to a four piece set up on Heartwork.

I've always struggled to appreciate this album as much as Heartwork. It's very good but not excellent IMO.

I have hard time deciding whether this is better than Heartwork, both are out of this world. I love the riffs on both albums, they're something only these guys could write. Incarnated Solvent Abuse especially is a legendary song, that simple main riff is literally the first thing that comes to my mind whenever someone mentions this band. Overall, this is a well-written and memorable album with awesome sick and funny lyrics. Gotta love Carcass.
