Eluveitie - Headlining Heathenfest North America

Heathen sects from across Europe will be converging on North America for the first annual Heathenfest tour! Switzerland's Eluveitie, the worlds heaviest Celtic tinged folk-metal band in existence, will be headlining the event with direct support coming from label mates Belphegor, Austria's most feared S&M loving blasphemers. Support will come from Scotland's own Pirate metal sensations Alestorm, Finland's female fronted folk-metal troupe Kivimetsän Druidi, and Norwegian black n' rollers Vreid.

Eluveitie mastermind Chrigel Glanzmann commented: "After our last planned US tour appearance was cancelled we were just as disappointed as our fans were. We promised to immediately start looking for a worthy replacement tour and so here it is! To us, it already seems far too long since we toured the US and Canada. We definitely haven't forgotten the warm welcome we received there! So we're more than happy and enthused to 'set sail' westwards once again!

All the more we have some excellent bands joining us, which we've had the pleasure to share the stage with before in Europe! And not at least we're eager as hell to cudgel the American metalheads with some brand new songs! I'm sure this tour will kick ass, devastate and definitely be a flagrantly HEATHEN feast!

We will of course play songs from our latest acoustic release "Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion" but we'll also play some songs from our upcoming album which is fully metal again. This tour will be the first time ever that we'll play those brand new songs live! Next week we'll enter the studio to start recording the new album, which should come out in early 2010."

Belphegor comments: "Ave! Yes it's the first time, after five amazing North American, tours that Belphegor gets to come to the States and play a full set and not have three drumsets on stage (laughs). So be prepared and expect more machine gun hellfire and aggressive stage action! We look forward to seeing all you death - legions again as we promote the release of our new album "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn". Hail Chaos - Hail Sathan!"

Alestorm exclaims: "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"

Kivimetsän Druidi adds: "We are really looking forward playing killer gigs on Heathenfest tour - our very first time in North America - with these awesome bands. We know there will be lots of our fans, but also people to whom we are still practically unknown. The response at our two European tours has been great and we have really enjoyed playing there. Last year we had just released our debut album Shadowheart when we toured with our friends Korpiklaani, Battlelore, and Falchion on Finnish Fire Tour through European metropolis and the audience made us feel very welcome. Now, we are prepared to give our fans some serious party time, extreme folk metal songs and joyful shows. So come to see us alive on Heathenfest tour and join the party!"

Vreid comments: "After a great first half of 2009 with 2 European tours and loads of summer festivals, such as the massive Wacken open air, we are now setting sails and are heading west. Our last album "Milorg" has gotten a fantastic response in Europe, and we are therefore very excited to spread our album to new territories this autumn. On October the 26th "Milorg" will receive a North America release through Indie Recordings / The End Records. The release will immediatly be supported by our first full North American tour. We will do a 4 week tour with the bands Eluveitie, Belphegor, Alestorm, & Kivimetsän Druidi. This tour is arranged by Rock the Nation and is entitled Heathenfest. Heathenfest will take Vreid to most of big cities in US & Canada and we can't wait to enter your shores. See ya all soon!"

Lol, of course I know Alestorm is one big joke. It's just that I really loathe bad jokes.

My only problem with Alestorm is that they're getting a pretty big (and loyal) fan base whereas only a five-year-old can really take them seriously. Alestorm is nothing more than a succesful marketing stunt. Not to forget their music is really cheap and plain horrible - nothing funny about that. Alestorm is all about (awful) image and gimmick, not the music. Alestorm is the greatest thing since aged Cheddar... and still it works. And that's something that truly annoys me.

Well since i count Alestorm as easygoing fun bad i really have no such a problem with them...for listening to serious music, there are other bands, but sometimes one needs to relax and just have fun...Alestorm seems to be perfect for that...i wanna see them live one day, missed them couple of times already

I'll be at the Worcester show for sure, and cool to see it's the opening night of the tour It took me a bit to get into the latest Eluveitie album, but it's finally opened up to me! And Kivimetsan Druidi is a great addition to this tour, I think lots of US fans are unaware of them and will enjoy their set a lot - I've already got a good dozen of my friends into them!

About Belphegor, they really don't fit this tour IMO, and after seeing them a few times now, I'll be happy to ignore them while standing near the bar. Alestorm I could care less about, but I'm sure they will be a success on the tour as they are a cheap thrill and drunk fans like that Vreid on the other hand should be interesting, hopefully the Palladium will not fail and actually have good sound for them...
