There's been a couple of threads discussing some aspects of slam, but not a thread simply dedicated to talking about slam bands that you like. As a proud fan of stupid slam metal, I have decided to provide a place for us to discuss all things slamz. I will begin by posting some slamz that I've been enjoying lately.

A perfect example of pure mindless idiotic slam for people with an IQ below 80.

They are described on their Facebook page as GUTTURAL BULLDOZER SLAM BRUTALITY. If that doesn't make you instantly love them, what will?

They're not even trying to make it seem like they have any sort of control over their instruments.


Possibly the most well known slam band, a one man band run by dubstep dj Big Chocolate.

Now that Laceration band is pretty sweet, but not nearly slam. Waaaay too much riffage and technicality, and not nearly enough slamz. Should generally have at least a minute of slamming before going into a 10 second maximum fast section.

This is a thread I expected to be started by MetalicIron.

People like MetalicIron simply focus on trying to irritate metal guys by saying "LOOK AT ME I LIKE ALL THESE MODERN MAINSTREAM BANDS THAT YOU GUYS DON'T LIKE!!!!" Slam has nothing to do with any of that stuff, and your typical Whitechapel fan would be just as repulsed by Cehpalotripsy as an Opeth fan would be.



I really do like this stuff, and only about 20% ironically, as opposed to crunkcore which I like about 95% ironically.

Ah they were a few slams in there, it's one of the few that I non-ironically like.

But I do love a good slam, even breakdowns are enjoyable, but I really can't listen to a whole slam album without wanting to blow my brains out and write a song about it.

Feelin you bro. I couldn't stand songs full of pure slams for a while, but for some reason I kept on listening to them, and started really liking the groove of the whole thing. If deathcore breakdowns had grooves like slam bands do, I'd back them 100%. But alas, it's not meant to be.
And that Laceration band really is good, if you got any similar bands, throw them my way.

...brutal death metal breakdowns, a style referred to as slam death metal based on its extensive breakdown usage. Although, unlike deathcore, death metal breakdowns are typically used to bridge a song together rather than act as the foundation.

So in the words of Troy basically Brutal Death with "death metal" style breakdowns.
