The clean vocals on this track that's up are a very interesting touch, don't think they've ever done that before.

I have to admit that I did not like their last album at all, but my tastes have changed in the past few years so I'm intrigued to see if I'm any more receptive to them this time around

I never liked their stuff either, there are really good moments, but generally mudded with random stuff.
Their collab work was their best work till now, this new song is miles ahead of their previous stuff

Aaaaaand suddenly this as well as the new Serpent Column and Vonlaus that were also set for release today have all disappeared from Bandcamp
I really hope they're just saving all three for the 2nd now because of Bandcamp Friday. If that's not the case I may just have to strangle somebody.

Jamescarpathian please stop teasing my penis with that 10 vote, we all know you probably haven't even heard this thing in full. And if you have I am feeling severe envy which may just lead to me burning down your house, raping your wife, and selling your children into slavery.

Am I crazy or is this not the bandcamp link for the release?

Alright, this as well as the new Serpent Column and Vonlaus EP are now up on Bandcamp
With my first listen I have to say that if anything draws particular attention it's the improved production. Not that past Skáphe releases were bad by any means, but they were a little rawer and murkier on the production. The production here, meanwhile, is a lot cleaner and more spacious, which in a way is better as it allows all the different layers of the composition and the psychedelic atmosphere to shine and be taken in a lot more effectively.
This could very well be their best release yet, but I'll need a few more spins before I call it as such.

That was my first thought as well. "Dynamic" was the word that came to mind to describe the production and the overall atmosphere. The drumming also seems more adventurous than before.

I remember hating their previous album, but this is a lot more digestible and likeable; have they toned down the extremity of the aggression/dissonance this time around? I feel like I would have been able to stomach this album fairly well in 2016, but I couldn't stand Skaphe2.

The production is definitely less murky and raw than on their past releases. I wouldn't call those past releases bad by any means, but the cleaner production here definitely works for the better, I think.

The production here is so much better, they really needed it to take to their sound to the next level. It's like they used what they learned on their collab work, this album is so good

Dang I don't really like this one. I think ^2 had better atmosphere/production. Especially on the vocals and the soaring & dissonant guitars. This feels a little too "normal" and less eccentric.

I completely disagree. I think the production on this one allows you to actually fully appreciate the many layers in each song. It might be a little bit "cleaner" production but I don't think that's a bad thing.

Interesting how people are reacting differently to the improved production here then, reminds me of the response to the latest Portal album as well. Although I'd wager this isn't nearly as polarizing.

Sounds like I'd enjoy it judging by the comments on the album thread. Gunna listen tonight.

Impressive album, nice one to listen to by yourself in a dark room at night. It reminds me of BAN, it's so eerie, trippy, and dissonant, and flows really well. "The Shrill Cracks And Moan" is the main stand-out track for me though.
