To me Slipknot is a rollercoaster kind of band, there are albums I love and others I don't give a shit about. I like "We Are Not Your Kind" so that this upcoming album could either belong to the one or to the other category. Future will tell.

There was a time when Slipknot back when nu metal was all the rage, and most metalheads that I new praised them so highly, but other than a few of their songs, I couldn't really get into them, maybe if I went back through their discography I might find a few albums that I might enjoy more of now.

Their discography is a bit of a mixed bag and pretty much every album has its share of fillers, but the debut is where it's at. I'd say their first three albums would give you a good idea of their sound overall. The last one was ok as well.

It's been a long time since I listened to their debut, but from what I remember it was ok, most of my favourite Slipknot songs were featured on that one, I didn't think much to the rest. And I hear positive reviews about their last album, so I must give that a go before this one is released.

Guess it's a matter of taste since I never managed to get into their first albums. Clearly the first album that got me in is Vol3 the subliminal verses, then the Gray Chapter and now We Are Not Your Kind. I listened to all other albums but they just didn't appeal to me.
