Hmmm..... I thought Kataklysm went on a indefinite hiatus. Is this just one last album or are they back? Anyway, if so it's good news, I like this band better than Ex Deo.

I don't know, Kataklysm is touring with Deicide right now. I'll see them live tomorrow.

I've never really listened to other Kataklysm albums but this is a fun listen.

The entire album is meh at best, and the title track is easily one of the weaker tracks. Very generic riffs, copy/paste vocals and a flat production doesn't help the situation either.
This is where "modern"/death metal comes to die IMO

I never really been listening to Kataklysm, never really thought about them actually. I remember listening a bit to Ex Deo back in the day, but this album really rocks. Like the groovy / melodic feel to it.

A solid, heavy sound and brutal performance, but nothing I find particularly exciting. Sure it's brutal, but aside from the last track it kinda lacks groove and those standout melodies for me. "Die As A King", "Heroes To Villains", and "The Sacrifice For Truth" are probably the three tracks that stand out most, the rest still doesn't really do alot anything for me.

Pretty good album in my opinion. Feels more dynamic and inspired than they've sounded in years - James Payne really gave them the shot in the arm they needed. Nice to see the band put more emphasis on melodic riffs & blast beats this time around. Steph's bass really stands out the mix as well, which is a nice touch. For me the best Kataklysm album since "Prevail", easily!

Seems to me that they have become more brutal than last two outings and with great riffs and bass, will stay in my playlist for some time.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

Another solid release; a testament to their consistency. For 30+ years of death metal, I don't think they have released a single bad record. Many good, and some very good. For me, this one goes into the Very Good pile. The theme of the album and lyrics appealed to me, and the riffs, bass and drumming really got me into the conquering sort of mood lol. For me, there wasn't a bad track on the record.

The vocals and the drumming was brilliant. But the songwriting is really average. Felt a very overproduced version of really generic riffs.

Am I missing a joke, reference or hidden meaning?

I’m pretty sure based off of their recent history and the above comments that I’m not going to like it much.
