Anyone who’s been following Blood Incantation closely up to this point probably won’t be overly surprised by the nature of this latest step in their musical evolution, but the sheer extent of their progression since we last heard from them is quite something to behold.

Glad to have some fresh stuff in the top 200, hope it manages to stay in there

I agree, last entrance is Amorphis - Queen Of Time over 6 years ago.

Fantastic release, very interesting sound. This mariage of death metal with space-rock is just wow.

Certainly deserves to sit in the top 200! It's at #142/500 on my list.

Of all bands that would knock Wintersun off its throne of “hypest album on Metalstorm” I never would’ve guessed it would be Blood Incantation.

This album is really amazing it took me to the cosmos with their great way of making music there has been a clear evolution along the time, from their first releases this great album is like listening to a mix of the band Yes with the Germans Eloy obviously with this work with that intensity of death metal and also with those little notes of the Tangerine Dream which makes me a genius, this clearly this must be part of a metal collector either in vinyl or CDs.

Yes, I haven't had time to process all the awesomeness of the album but I already think it's their best album... the recipe: Brutal Death followed by atm/prog to revitalize for more Brutal Death ...is just perfect

I love the innovation here but its probably not an album that I will regard as great. As a bigger fan of death metal than tangerines, for my taste the death metal parts has been lightened too much (probably to fit with the proggier parts). Death metal that does nothing for me.

Probably ended up sounding like the first two albums, which itself, were good. It was a good move from BI side to experiment beyond the realms of their playmaking and take a risk with fanbase. It's up to the fans now how they will adapt to newer songs live.

Incredible album, from the music to the cover, everything is great. Animals and Dark Side of the Moon in a death metal album, I couldn't imagine that one day. I hope David Gilmour will play with them during the tour

At first I was admittedly drawn back by all the praise and I went in skeptikal but this is actually incredible! It has been already addressed in this thread how the (Death) metal aspects are seperated from the space rock/electronic side of the songwriting and this bothered me a bit at first but upon further listens I could understand the score of the album and the vision the band has for it. The closing track is breathtaking!

I've been coming back to this thing a couple times a day since release. I loved it on first listen, but I only love it more now. It really deserves to be in the top 200. Hats off to Blood Incantation for making such an incredible record.

"Perfect album" - 8/10

In all seriousness, this really does fully deserve it's spot in the Top 200. Hope it stays there, will be the first album for the last 5 years I think to make it?

Bland, prog rock mixed awkwardly with death metal riffs that I feel like I have already heard. Zero cohesion. The death metal influences and sections feel like an afterthought. Overrated album. Overrated band.

100% agreed with everything you've said. This bored me to death. There's often no connection from one part of the song to the next, the titles are childish, the video game sound annoyed the hell out of me, the DM parts are generic as hell.
Calling this overrated is putting it mildly.

Listened to it more and it's safe to say that, as of now, there is no great album ever that could be called "pink ployed playing death metal". What is it about death metal that makes it hard to be lent to spacy/floaty/ psychedelic songwriting? Black metal seems much more open to that possibility.

Did they play DM in between the pshyche-prog-rain-gibberish interludes they played in the beginning-middle-end of the tracks, while I was taking a nap?? 🤨🥱😴

Trying very hard to like this at the minute, but I am not seduced to its charms just yet. Jumbled structures and inconsistent moods within the same songs detract from the experience for me at the moment. As amazing as individual sections can be, it lacks the cohesiveness of "songs" and just feels like "music" - as enjoyable as that music is.

Need a few more listens and will revisit rating.
