Although The Formulas Of Death was long in the rear view mirror, Tribulation were still being described as ‘kings of gothic, deathly metal’ at the time of the release of their last record, Where The Gloom Becomes Sound. On Sub Rosa In Æternum, it’s safe to say that any lingering connections to the band’s more extreme beginnings have been almost entirely severed.

I know it's gonna be tough to beat the follow-up "Where Glooms...", "The Formulas Of Death" and "The Children Of The Night", let's see what it revolves around this time.

Having new album excites me.

Goes in my wishlist.

Sorry but wtf is this? A tribute to Type O Negative or Moonspell? Meh.

I'm really not sure how I feel about the new singles. That cover is their worst by a mile too. I get a feeling this could be the first bad egg in their Discography. Hopefully I'm wrong because I love this band.

Well.... I was very wrong. It's not the Tribulation I fell in love with but it's still a fantastic version of them.

I had low expectations, after the departure of Jonathan Hultén, but I was wrong. This is very enjoyable gothic rock/metal, and the softer songs, like "Hungry Waters" or "Murder In Red" are great. If The Sisters Of Mercy somehow magically released a song like "Poison Pages" in 2024, I'd shit my pants. I am very glad that Tribulation did it, though.

I know this is X-Ray Rod one of fav bands,
To me well even evolution is good, and still its much better as gothic collogues from Unto Others, but seems to many bands now do such thing, not happy whit it even I like in some way gothic.

I stand whit Ukraine and Israel. They have right to defend own citizens.

Another great effort by this band and one of the finest albums I've heard in gothic metal this year, definitely prefer this to what Unto Others presented earlier this year anyway. It's also fast becoming one of my favorite albums from this band.

We fall in love with a band when we love their genre and the their unique sound which stands out in that genre even if the genre ia done to death. I dont want Slayer to play soft rock and the same with Tribulation also. Whatever they played here ia anything but Tribulation. And wtf is this clean vocals? ?!!!...Still I am confused over the concept of 'Originality'. Does it mean that one should sound like someone else..!!!!...
Btw, the album has some great tracks (if rendered by some other band).

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

I think the album is just super fun, due to the embrace of the hookier goth stuff. And due to the hookier focus, I don’t think this one should be judged so critically. Going on the ride is the fun part of this band. I don’t clutch on too tightly to a particular era. I think you miss out on the present by focusing on how “they’re not the same anymore.”
