Hlidolf.. I discovered this band because I stumbled upon the debut album of Hjarnidaudi, which happens to be the continuation of Hlidolf. Since I loved the Hjarnidaudi album and you never have enough good music, I had to check out Hlidolf as well. So when this little baby stared at me from the shelves of my local metalstore, there was no other option than to take it home.

Now it is time to send some people away. Do you fall asleep when you hear a tempo that is under 160 bpm? What are you even doing here. Do you think Sunn O))) do not make music but just fart through an amplifier? First, go away, then be ashamed of yourself. Do you hate everything that is not a direct treat for your ears and can you not be bothered to let an album 'grow on you'? With my deepest regret, for you are sure missing out on something, but you are also not meant for this stuff.

Ok, so who should actually listen to this stuff? He who likes his music spaced out, lengthy and droning, enveloping, engulfing hymns to the emptiest of the voids. Slowly changing synths in the background, rumbling and disturbing bowelbasses in front. No vocals, no uplifting nonsense, no energetic bullshit. Pure, long waves of lethargic nihilism, shredding the flesh of your bones. Without weight or mass, floating through the dark nothingness, a universe compressed beyond comprehension. Emptiness. The void.

Those are the people for whom this album is created. The rest have no choice but to let this album pass or be horribly disappointed. And the lucky few who can appreciate it, will never be heard of again, for they will be floating in the dark infinity of space..

I love you reviews, so uplifting. The album sounds intriguing, but I'm having a terrible time trying to even find a quick listen of the album, but if i do, I'll let you know what I think.

I definitely listened to this album a lot when it was first released, actually I remember making some friends on MS back then based on our shared love for this sort of stuff.

I like the third paragraph of this review as well. Good word choice, sums up the sound of this album quite well. Actually, it sums up much of drone doom.

I've decided my new job is to go through all of your old reviews. This album is absolutely amazing. I think I like it more than you, at least according to rating. But this is without a doubt one of the best space-y albums. Along with Darkspace I think I'm ready for my descent into a black hole.
