It isn't quite 3-D though either. It sounds flat, but kind of like Guinness seems flat and Guinness is arguably the best beer objectively. Or it's flat like a death metal equivalent to a medieval painting or something. It isn't boring because of it. It isn't enveloping and it doesn't flaunt it's dynamism is all, but that doesn't make it bland and doesn't mean that what they do isn't dynamic. Vorum puts suffocating, punishing sonic malice first. Creating filthy and cavernous, Cthulhu-in-the-fog atmosphere is all well and good for the more austere-sounding, modern death acts, but Vorum doesn't roll that way. Vorum do hurricanes more than tidal waves and fogs and yet they're still atmospheric.
The overall feel of Current Mouth is one of spraying, sputtering chaos, but it isn't overly chaotic. These guys seem to know exactly what they're doing at all times, which is saying a lot considering just how much happens on this album. It's about 18 minutes long and there seem to be more sounds on it than on most full-lengths. Sure, the added distortion on the vocals here can get annoying and even 18 minutes of straight punishment can get annoying too, but this is death metal so don't be a pussy. This lives up to its sick album art.
